How was the session?
Great! Although the Dwarves were Xonophobic to the point of downright insane... which I suppose is to be expected of DF Dorfs. The Bronze Colossus was a challenging opponent, and Toman had a huge hero moment where he managed to beat an enemy by tackling him to the ground, taking his weapon, carving him into tiny bits and throwing every piece into a fire. Which, in retrospect, sounds like a Portal reference.
I also liked how the magic-immune enemy came at us along with several mooks, so that I still had something to do while fighting it.
Also, elephants. XD I didn't know they were so badass in D&D, but apparently they are!
Lastly, I still need to know what happened with the super-secret magic event with Azasar.
Things to fix?
There were a lot of times when we made silly decisions because we couldn't see the walls around us. I honestly couldn't tell what was up with the drawbridge for a while there, there were several doors that we couldn't see because the VBLs were oddly-placed, and there were a few times where we had to deal with not being able to see 5' in a straight line because our sightlines hadn't been updated. The cage could also have used a pog, or a drawing, or something, rather than just an indent in the wall.
Also, Auvergne is starting to get on my nerves. We need to level up a lot, fast, so that we can take her down before she hits level 21.
How are the NPCs?
Azasar needs more lines. Or emotes.
The White Owl was well-done, I thought, although Anarose was being somewhat douchebaggy about not explaining why it had to be killed with extreme prejudice for a while there.
The Dorfs were slightly more racist than I expected (their default treatment of elves is "whatever, trading partner doodz), but in the end they acted appropriately for their abysmal CHA scores
.
If Auvergne is going to be a sympathetic villian, she needs to put less effort into killing/trolling/threatening us. Showing up immediately after a boss fight and then demanding we give her the spoils (you know, our entire reason for being there) does not make her look like a nice person. But then Rae's talk with her made her seem like a decent person. Persona whiplash aaaaah
Lyliss was... kinda strange. I have a feeling we're either going to have a boss fight in her immediate vicinity, or against her personally, in the future.
I think I missed most of Urist's characterization because that's when I had to leave, but I like how he ended up panicking when he realized how utterly screwed he was.
