I liked when I AoO'd an enemy that I couldn't see and insta-killed it.

Seriously though, I think I should downgrade my weapon, and get the plus added to my weapon instead.

I do 13-31 damage per attack right now. If I downgraded it to normal damage and got a +7 weapon instead it would be 18-26 damage. I would just never miss ever again. Wait... That's a downgrade!? It's even better in my powergaming opinion!

Maybe I should have different enchantments instead. Ones that don't affect damage so much.

:P

What about 'Merciful'? 1d6 extra NL damage, and you can NL attack without taking -4 to rolls.

Also, you can't get a +7 weapon. +5 max iirc.

EDIT - Almost time!

I've pretty much remade Venator into a new character (a single-class ranger) on the grounds that he fails at life. He's the most ineffective combatant ever. I'm pretty sure Vulsano could take him in a melee fight.

So, with that in mind, I've made a chaotic-good duel-wielding drow half-elf ranger to replace him.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to ask about weapons. Would it be possible to have a more expensive version of a double-bladed sword that can detach in half to make two shortswords? A bit gimmicky, but I don't like the idea of my guy running around accidentally injuring himself all the time with his awesome-yet-impractical double-bladed weapon. Granted it is fiction, and therefore problems like this will never come up, but bear with me. I'm a bit OCD in this regard.

I don't see why not. There's not much functional difference between two weapons and a double weapon, is there?
(I haven't read the rules for double weapons in a while but that's what I remember)

Pretty much, yeah. Double weapons count as a single one-handed weapon and one light weapon in the off-hand. The difference is in damage (1d8 for both ends of the double weapon vs. 1d6 for each shortsword) and damage type (slashing vs. piercing). Crit ranges also differ, I believe, but that's about it.

@These quotes:

Quote
[00:04]    Rudra    and making Kanesrae emo was mean
[00:05]    Skyrunner    I didn't intend for the emo
[00:05]    Skyrunner    Though in retrospect it is obvious...
[00:05]    TheSaint    I think it was voluntary.

It was indeed voluntary. ^^^ It would be out of character for Rae, a generally very loving and caring person, to not feel terrible for cheating on Tali (despite not actually going out with her, she is in an awkward stage where she thinks she loves her but isn't sure yet, which is compounded by the problems of both of them being female and from races who generally don't get along with each other), turning on her friends for a mere 300 GP and attacking her clanmates... >.> It's made even worse by the fact that Ria and Tali (or even Bael) were absent; if one of them had been on hand in the battle with Bano, she might have been able to be talked down, or at least been counseled on the ship on the way to Anarose's sanctum. :\ Being left to stew in regret for a week made what was already going to be a bad situation worse. (OTOH, this will give Dwarmin a pretty interesting situation to be dropped into when he can come back, hopefully by next session. :D)

Anyway, the three questions:

How was it?

The only problem I had with the session(s) was no one's fault, but getting DC'd so much was extremely annoying (especially when I had to do the betrayal angle there at the end). Like I said, it's no one's fault and out of everyone's control and discounting that, I had fun when I was actually playing. I got to RP a new and interesting situation for Rae with some severe consequences, and although it will be tough to remember that she's not supposed to be cheerful and bouncy in the future (have to edit macros to reflect that >.>) it'll be interesting to have a new take on her. It might not last TOO long though since we need at least one upbeat character, and I don't see anyone except possibly Anya stepping up to fill that role.

Things to fix?

My copy of MapTools, or my internet connection, or something, I don't even know what happened today. >:( Probably the sunspots, but still, it was damned annoying.

How were the NPC portrayals?

Well, I liked them; a good moment in particular was when (as mentioned in the IRC by Shoruke/Rudra) Sand Dancer was like 'lolnope' when it came to caring about the party/party's fight with Bano and just strolled on out. I quite like bits like that - even small ones - that make it feel more like there's a world beyond the PCs and their actions, although of course such moments should probably be kept to a low level since this is the party's story, after all. ^^^

I thought it was a great session! It was fun having our party mow through a horde of demons and elementals in, like, three minutes of in-game time. Also NPCs: I thought they were very well done, particularly the major ones like Sand Dancer and Bano. Skyrunner did a great job of voicing the devils, as well.

For some reason, I find it hilarious that after hacking our way through four floors of undead, devils, and elementals, we stop to have a nice ten-minute-or-so chat with an evil lich as he plays the organ.

Although, I suppose our talk technically lasted only about 30 seconds. It is a free action after all. :P

How was it?
Awesome! We got a lot of fighting done (as appropriate for level 12 PCs), the traps were nontrivial but also didn't utterly destroy us, and the enemies were balanced more or less perfectly: after three solid minutes of zerg rush, we beat the final boss with very little fight left, but we made it.

Things to fix?
I suppose it's mostly my fault that most of my offensive power is fire-elemental, but fighting fire-immune enemies was annoying... still, a good challenge. Luckily Rudra is still versatile enough to be competent against fire-immune creatures (yellow veil for ALL the win! flat 80 damage, lol)
Other than that, the one trap in the first hallway that disposed of Rae. Traps that are just "suddenly one of your party members are gone and you don't know what happened, and here's a fight to distract you" are annoying. Sufficiently douchebaggy for savvy enemies, but Bano doesn't seem the type for that kind of thing, so it came off as rather arbitrary.
Also, can you fix my teammates so that they don't continuously get in the way of my AoE effects? I suppose you can't. I guess *I* need to work on that then, but giving that lecture is going to sound extremely pretentious  :'(

How were the NPCs?
Pretty great, actually. The mysterious sand-chick was sufficiently mysterious, and her encounter made it seem like the world does do things that we don't see, but her screen time was short enough that it doesn't detract from the important stuff: us!
(yeah, it's egotistical to say, but... we're playing the player characters, not the non-players characters)

Okay... uh, I may have misplaced the chat log :/ I'm sure I saved it, but it's not showing up.
My theory is pressing 'enter' at the saving screen causes it to default to 'cancel', not 'OK'...

I'm really sorry. Apparently this session's fighting part will be lost in history, despite there being quite a number of nice quips, including V's :3 He's the number one talker!

...Anyways, yes, I lost it D: It's a wonder how I didn't lose the campaign file...

Found Winterer - 2000 XP (for everyone. Yes, every single one of you.)
Purified Winterer - 1000 XP (again.)

This session: The party docked at Hatred Island, Gateway. The party made their way to the Bano temple. They kicked in the proverbial door and triggered some trap that blasted Kanesrae through the ceiling. An ambush team of wraiths and undead assualt them. At the end are some not-aggressive templegoer undead. They ask the party to find what's going on. Every once in a while, the explosion of fireballs shake the building. On the second floor, hordes of Bearded devils and some Hellcats attack, wave after wave. At the end, two Barbed devils are finished off. The Gates they came through were closed before the party could investigate them. On the third floor, a large security force of ice elementals and a freezing ray trap assualt the party. They meet an Ice devil, who doesn't attack them. They fight their way through the floor, only for the Ice devil to be killed by four concentrated Cones of Cold. On the forth floor was a battlefield, with many high-level devils and undead. They beat each other silly and clear themselves out. A mysterious woman named Sanddancer leaves, and lets slip that the Winterer is here with Bano. Bano, the lich, has a three minute talk about organs and music, that included one spell Bigby's Organ Playing Hands. A Brachina appears, and Kanesrae goes berserk on the party, knocking out Wheatly and temporarily knocking out Rudra. A cleverly used Circle against Evil traps Kanesrae. The party and Bano kill the pleasure devil. They then attack each other. The personal antimagic field of Bano nearly thwarts all efforts, but it eventually goes down and Bano re-dies. He leaves an ominous message that he will return to his phylactery and take revenge.

The IRC log will cover the second part, returning to Anarose.

Having two consecutive sessions (and thus roughly 8~10 hours of D&D) fit so much into one day.

Hmm, so...

Rae gets: 14,100 XP (10900+1200+2000+1000)
Toman gets: 12,900 XP (8900+1200+2000+1000)
Anya gets: 13,500 XP (10900+600+2000+1000)

Is that correct? Also totally claiming the magic dice as Anya. >.>

Going to go ahead and update sheets assuming XP counts are correct; will post level-ups when finished.

RAE
Level 14: 7+5 HP gained; total now 162.
5 (4+1Int) skill points gained; Listen, Spot, and Escape Artist all go up one rank.
Gained permanent Freedom of Movement spell-equivalent feat.
BAB and Reflex Saves increase by 1.

Also, new pog.

TOMAN
Level 13 (Fighter9/Bard1/DD3): 11+5 HP gained; total now 175.
6 (2+3Int+1Human) skill points gained; Listen, Spot, and Search all go up two ranks.
Gained a 2d8, 30ft Fire Cone breath attack. The DC of the breath weapon is 10 + class level + Con modifier, so DC 18 currently. Can be used once per day.
BAB and Reflex Saves increase by 1; now has three attacks per round.

ANYA
Level 13 (Sorcerer6/FMM7): 2+3 HP gained; total now 75.
5 (2+2Int+1Human) skill points gained; Concentration, Spellcraft, and Arcane Knowledge go up 1 rank, Bluff goes up 2 ranks.
Magic Missile damage increases as another missile is added to total amount due to FMM.
Can cast one more Level 6 spell per day; learns one more Level 4, 5, and 6 spell. Choosing Dimensional Anchor (L4), Hold Monster (L5), and Bigby's Forceful Hand (L6). (Unless someone has better suggestions, especially for a L6 Force-School spell... ;D)

Ugh, going to have to update a lot of macros later. :P

If possible, could I claim the headband of intellect for Vulsano? Who, incidentally, levels up! But I'll get to that later.
