Well, as far as I know, currently the only way to get sounds in DF is by using Soundsense. So, running vanilla DF without any sound coming from a computer means that you would miss out the music, but nothing else.

On a unrelated note. This is what I got for the layout so far. Top left is DF of course, bottom right is the irc stream, and top left is the webcam. Yes, I'm due for a haircut.


(DF fits in perfectly, I only needed to widen and the webcam did not need to be resized at all.)

I'm trying to think of a way to fill the bottom right corner and if I should make the background a solid black, any suggestions?

I keep a media player in the extra corner, with the DF sound muted and my own playlist running. You could also give the IRC more space, or one of your utilites like Dwarf Therapist

Hello, I'm posting this to see if anybody would be interested in watching a live stream on ustream or something of someones whose experience with DF extends to reading the tvtropes pages on DF and boatmurdered, trying to play the game for the first time themselves.

I was thinking that playing blind can increase the "fun" to be had, even more so with a live audience to help or to create more "fun" by hindering the progress of the player.

But, I do not know if anybody is interested in watching... so thats why I came here to ask. Is anybody interested?

If its a blind play of it, i imagine they would be like "HOW DO I DIG" like every 3 seconds.

Hopefully digging is not so complicated to the point that it's possible to forget every 3 seconds... But if it gets to that point, I will open a help document...

Er... Now that I think about it. Is there anything in the game like f1 to show me commands? If not, can someone point me to a simple help doc that will not spoil anything.

Here is what i got for a layout.

I shrunk the resolution, as I was having problems using the flash broadcaster for ustream. (one of the bigger ones was that ustream was cutting off the sides of the broadcast, hence the gray bars) It also has the side effect of allowing DF to be more visible when resized to fit the player.

Every button that does something at any given time will be displayed in green text on the screen at that time, and usually along with what pressing that button does. At least in Fortress Mode, anyway.
