VERLIES a good old dungeon crawler game
« on: January 25, 2012, 08:13:03 pm »

I am pleased today to present my first game, Verlies.

Do you like to explore labyrinthine dungeons for hours ? To find heaps of treasures, items and gear ? To fall victim to a lot of vicious traps, and to die just before reaching the merchant because of some huge monster that tore you apart in a single strike ? Then Verlies was designed just for you !

Verlies is a dungeon crawler / Hack & Slash taking place in dungeons filled with deadly traps, chests and other randomly generated stuff. You will be facing enemies, searching for equipment and powerful scrolls, and meeting NPCs offering various services for a fee. All of this being randomly generated, from start to finish (spells' cost and power, enemies' strenght, gear's statistics, location of the NPC, etc …). It's impossible to play the same game twice !

To face these traps waiting to kill you at every corner you cross and every box you open, you will have 12 "jobs" to choose from. They will allow you to build your own and unique character.

Building a balanced game (difficulty, economy, ...) was one of the main objective of the development, and was conducted with the utmost care. You will definitively have a hard time choosing between the various services offered by the NPCs (sale & purchase, maintenance of the gear, blessings, forging of new items, etc...).

The game was built to be a "base" for regular free updates, providing brand new content ! It will evolve with the addition of new ideas, advices and wishes from you, the players. Feel free to discuss the game and give your opinion or advices here.

So a human add bot then? Too bad the budget did not have enough for real add bots, but I can see that it did not have enough for lots of stuff.

Yes, I am the developers as Verlies, I frequent this forum a long time in "spectator" but I never really participated because my English is approximate ... But I thought I would come to present my first game, because I love this community. I'm sorry if that was displeasing.  :-\

Not... Displeasing I must say... Just me being a ass hole.

And what you say could very well be true. But that does not change the fact that you are basically just here to advertise.

Don't get me wrong, we like when devs come and talk about their games... (when they actually say meaningful things) But. Eh....

It just. Rubbed me the wrong way might I say?

For reference it always helps to state up front "I made this!"

This community is a bit harsh on people who come out of nowhere and advertise a game. If they are long-time lurkers, then there is less trouble, but it's generally a bad idea to advertise a game immediately.

I haven't really looked at the game too much though, yet. It might actually be really good.

I edited the first post. But things clear, I do not intend disappear after presented the game, my goal was really to share and discuss with you the evolution of the game and amendments to it.
This is one of the foundations of the project, I plan to update it regularly with advice and guidance of the players, I have already started with the patch 1.1 introduces several features requested by some players on other forums.

Thanks for posting this and welcome to our community. We aren't all hostile. The game looks nice and seems familiar. What engine did you use to make it?

The screenshots give me a dungeon master vibe.
Was that an inspiration for the style?

Thanks !
It's true that it's weird to be "attacked" on a forum where I have my reading habits, but I should have expected, it was not very smart on my part, I have the provide that it would be likened to the pub. I use a Scirra software, something of a disconcerting ease of use but can do wonders.

Yes clearly, i'm a bashful lover of Dungeon Master.
