Okay, interesting thing happened. I caged almost all of the little guys in a large room underground, and was planning on breeding the rest. Problem? Sieges happened. turns out I left a opening for them to get thru, and the entire outside is on fire. Luckaly, most of the little guys lived, but when I shut the entrence to the fort vi cave in a few died. Planning on going out and getting there cooling corpses to sell, of course, but I am down to twelve of the little guys and one is missing a wing and both eyes. Into the stewpot with that one.

...Chain that one near the entrance of your fort. Use it as a child-snatcher/siege finder that sets things on fire.

Even gimped and blind it can still breed.

Check all their descriptions.  Butcher the ones that are weak or skinny, unless you run out of either males or females, then leave at least one of those.  That way any child dragons that are born will be much more likely to be large, gigantic and/or muscular since their parents will have those characteristics.

Also dragons only really truly reach their full size after 1000 years. (Unless you've modded.)  You're going to have "child" dragons for as long as you run your fort (most likely).  Even so, fire breathing guard dragons are pretty awesome.

There modded to reach full size in ten years. There now three years old and the size of cows at the moment, and thanks to the wonders of genetics the only one who is not fat is -gasp!- the crippled one. Who is going in the larder.

Hypothetically, if I were to catch a dragon in a cage, wouldn't he kill dwarves even after he was tamed? Because don't named creatures attack dwarves now and then? I was playing Wizard Tower as sorcerers, and I imported some GCS to beef up my undead army. After decimating elven ambushes and human sieges this way, several of the GCS had names. When I was pasturing them, one of them bit a sorcerer. He was paralyzed, and died of suffocation. Won't this apply to captured rocs and dragons as well?

Only if they have killed dwarfs in the past. See Boatmurdered for the prime example of this phenomina. And as a note, all of the little darlings (which are now fully grown and down to twelve individuals, and there is a new cluch with more eggs haching soon) have been dwarfed-raised, so now should only kill dwarves vi fire breathing on, say, a little mouse while a dwarf is in the way. Hence, there main hazerd now is if a dwarf stummbles into there faux-cage-chamber if a vermin is in it.

I made dragons like this once, only with wagon pulling with the idea that they'd keep trade caravans safe. They also had bonecarn, can speak and can learn, so they needed meat like Tigermen and could socialize.

I'm clearly not the smartest modder. By the way, dragonfire is hotter than magma.

Just make everything in your fort out of steel, dump all clothing, mod in steel beds, and do your farming in seperate dragon free areas, them let em loose, ignore any dwarven casualties, at least your precious stuff will be safe.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

dig a 1-tile-wide corridor to a single support that keeps your entire fortress alive and fill the corridor and space around the fortress support with booze.  Pull a lever to expose it to the dragons and you have your very own fortress suicide device/first dwarfed mission to the moon

This is obvious.

They need to be restrained, while the verminating is done by cute, cuddly kittens.

They need to be safely, and securely held behind a sealed chamber. The doomsday lever should release them into primary booze stockpile, while additionally releasing caged goblin prisoners into the same room.

The resulting boozesplosions should be legendary.

Also note! I have played with vermin hunter tag in the past myself. The dragons will acquire the same "mind control" powers as kitty cats do.  You are warned.

About that last part, that mind control thingy is shown by '[ADOPTS_OWNER]' if i'm right.
