Defenders Quest

Website:  http://www.defendersquest.com/
RPS Article:  http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/01/24/hours-of-towers-defenders-quest/

I picked this up recently and figured it deserved a post.  This is a tower defense game blended with RPG elements.  The story is RPG'ish and your characters are the "towers".  There are 6 classes, Berserker, Ranger, Knight, Ice Mage, Healer and Dragon and you can hire more of these guys to round up your party.  Each character levels up, has stats and a skill tree, so you can customize your team however you like.  The game is unusually polished for an indie tower defense game and it even has a demo.

I tried going for a team of 6 rangers.  It didn't work out so well, but its fun.   :P

Its not out on steam yet (although apparently they are trying), but you can buy it from their website with their unusually painless checkout progress.

Damn, if you had not made this post i would have done that now.
I played 5 minutes or something, (did not even finish the tutorial i think) and have already send them my money.
(On the other hand i´m rather loose with my cash when it comes to indie games)
I can agree to anything Levi said and i did also enjoy the story so far (not very far indeed, sorry). Also, good jokes!

I see, this thread is not going places. ^^
I hope you dont mind if i try to salvage it by asking Levi some questions:
Did you continue to play? I´m at level 10 with Azra by now, and i have some trouble defeating the armored revenant. Especially if i go for the advanced challenges. Any idea how to get past their armor?

Edit: And just as i continued to play it after post there is the solution: A new class, knight, with an armor breaking ability! Yeah!

I actually just finished the game last night.  :)  I'm going to keep playing as their seems like their might be multiple endings and I'd like to play more the the advanced challenges.

Yeah, the knight is REALLY important with the armor breaking.  Without it some areas are really tough, as you need to outdamage the armor otherwise(which isn't practical most of the time).  Archers get some armor piercing ability later on, but I've leveled it up a fair bit and it doesn't seem to help much.   :P

I think most of my guys are around lvl 18-19 right now.

Also, once you get to the sheep level, try the hardest challenge.  Its hilarious.   :D

I´ve noticed the archers armor piercing ability and started to level them, but got the knights first.
No harm done though, ill just dump all those ability points into the bleeding skill, i kinda like that quite a lot.

Does that sheep level relate in any way to that shepherd staff i found early in the game? Because the description of it was quite amusing too. :D And Slak is just a cool dude

Overall very awesome game but i fear many people will be put of by the first look.
