Correct me if I'm wrong, but can you do this?

1. Embark on fortress
2. Abandon
3. Start with a dwarven adventurer, become a necromancer, retire at old fortress
4. Reclaim
5. ????
6. Personal necromancer at disposal

You can't retire directly at old fortresses, but retired adventurers might show up as migrants.

What if you use embarkanywhere.exe and embark on an existing fortress where your necromancer retired?

That would require dwarf fortresses to be put back into the game, which as far as I know they have not.

You could embark-anywhere on a town where an adventurer retired and they should be there and friendly -- but you would not be able to control him.  and are there still problems with indiginous townspeople starving and sleeping outdoors and such if you embark on them?

anyway, if youre going to pull out the embark-anywhere, you might as well cut out the middle man and just embark on a necromancer's tower.
