vonHavsvik:
With aid from Stratos, James' champion Charlotte seized the Pyro border isle of Ash. I moved ahead to assault Cindercrag.James:
We're a little too late. All them farmers are now slaves inside that building marked 'Pyrodraulic Dynamo™'. I hate to say it, but destroy that thing before it starts doing whatever it does. That'll spare them some misery at least.Zyzyx:
It doesn't look like it is doing anything yet.Meet the Pyrodraulic Dynamo™. Whatever that is.
Some of you might remember Gammel from when we last helped James out. Some of you might even remember when I said that we'd see the regular unit version of him in the future. The smaller guy next to him is Ikarus, a 3-soul flying melee unit from James.
I take a look around. The map is a large roundish shape with plenty of space to move in the middle. All places of importance (like our altar) are situated near the edges. Pyrodraulic Dynamo™ can be seen as the middle tower in that last picture. That's our objective.
I attack a factory. Minimap indicates there are units hiding behind it. Something you may have noticed earlier; Sirocco seems to always be the first to hit the scene. She's just ridiculously fast, though I'm not sure if that's because of her hero status or the fact that she's a dragon.
Souls for the harvest. These will come in handy. Pyrodraulic Dynamo™ can be seen as the tower in the distance, second from the right.
We're about to cross that hill to get a clear view at Pyrodraulic Dynamo™ and forces defending it. I also wanted to show you guys our new spell, the
Halo of Earth. I conjure up half a dozen or so boulders that hover around over my head. They will fly towards any enemies that get close to me.
Just as I've finished the spell and am ready to advance, I notice that an enemy wizard is launching an attack to my altar.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned the
Teleport spell before. It allows me and units close to me to teleport to any friendly structure on the map.
Buta is preparing to descerate my altar while majority of his forces are off-screen to my right.
Am I the only one who thinks Freespace when those red beams start flying?
Pyromaniacs are gnomes who have given themselves to Pyro. They are an efficient long range unit.
Souls for the soulbox.
Pyro:
The Pyrodraulic Dynamo™ is now operational. All will bow before the might of Pyro!vonHavsvik:
It turned out the Dynamo™ could convert ore under an island's crust to magma, thus initiating a violent eruption.Zyzyx:
But it could only do it once in a while. The Pyrodraulic Dynamo™ turns the midsection of this map into a killzone, preventing any major movements that doesn't take place hugging the edges of the map.
Finally getting around to it, I summoned a number of sylphs, basilisks and some more ikarus'.
Ready to move out, I spot Buta making a run for it after Pyrodraulic Dynamo™ started recharging.
Faced with a dragon, the lone wizard quickly succumbs.
Pyrodraulic Dynamo™ reactivates while my fliers are still mauling the manahoars.
We quickly teleport to safety.
To gather some more souls and to take away some of Buta's mana regeneration abilities, I order my armada to take out a nearby manalith.
Back in my base, I see that Buta is making another assault.
Behold! The gravity defying petrified pyrodactul. Overwhelmed on all sides, Buta's attack fails to impress.
Finally getting to cross that hill between my holdings and the flatland that leads to Pyrodraulic Dynamo™, I see Buta hanging out by his Manalith.
I scout a bit and see that there are at least pyrodactuls and bombards guarding the Pyrodraulic Dynamo™. Pyrodactuls are Pyro-Ikarus and bombards are a heavy long range AOE unit. Pretty badass.
Knowing that my sylphs would all die from just one or two fireballs, and wanting to distract some fire away from my flyboys, I summon up a good sized group of firefists. Have I mentioned I love firefists.
Suck that damage like sponges, boys!
I of course forget that Sirocco likens herself to Speedy Gonzales.
Just a flesh wound.
At least two bombards, some pyrodactuls and a bunch of others.
I lose a lot of guys, but so do they. And they don't have
animate dead. Soon in the heat of battle the Dynamo™ crumbles.
James:
Well that does it for ole Mister Dynamo™.Zyzyx:
Let's hope they don't have the resources to build another one.
