I never thought that make dwarf to kill a single beast could be that hard.
Also I'm worried that we still have no moods, although population raised up to 50. Maybe I screwed something with my mods?
And all dwarves are content, not a single unhappy citizen. Shit.

Nish Boredletters, leatherworker suddenly forot his duty of smotthing the main hall. He looks like we got struck by some supernatural force. He barricaded at leather workshop.

- Tekud, what's that?! -Tekkud Gearedstance was hunter from previos migration wave

- I hunted it down the caverns! Look, I was wandering there and suddenly this thing jumps out of mushroom forest! I hardly shit obsidian block! But I had my crossbow in hand and some bone bolts, so I first shot at it's legs and then finished it at it's head.


Nish collected three pieces of leather and a gneiss boulder.
And scouts told me that human trade caravan is approaching. Good, humans have some useful stuff!

So, I got some nice ideas to apply.

1. I'm adding caste of Servants, whose duty is to haul delicious food/booze from kitchen and still to nobles' stock. Techincally there will be burrow for Commoners coverring industry part and food stockpile with prepared food and drinks except dwarven wine disabled. Servants get no-quality bed somewhere and hauling/cleaning job, so they are basically idling and carrying stuff to Nobles' chambers.

2. If (When) we get forgotten beast with dust attack, we capture it and expose test creatures to it's dust. If we get usefull results, we'll try to utilize it.

3. We get obsidian-cave-in-to-magma trap, that should greet invader walking over entrance bridge with come cave-in dust.

We've got an intruder, just when Nish finished his artifact

We didn't had time to admire it, we all rushed to fight. Marx was the fastest of us, he cought that thief up and landed a blow at his spine.



Then human caravan guard finished him.


Later we took a look at ish's creation

Quite nice, although not so valuable. I think the most glorious fighter should take it.

23rd Galena
Finally we could negotiate with human trader without any interruption.
We bought billon bar, tin cages, bronze whip and halberd and every piece of human over-sized armor.
- Why do you neet this stuff? You'd need a companion dwarf to wear this chainmail! - laughed their guards
- Ha. - I answered - Do you think we will WEAR this no-quality stuff?! You, boys, take it to the smelter! Good it's large in size, so hope we'll get a profit. - So, next time bring us more pieces of your "smithery". Weapons aren't that bad, though...

Also we got a few bins of plant and wool cloth and leather. Time to make us new outfit!

5th Sandstone

Today we've spotted traces of another cave crocodile at closest cavern. Another pretender, Zas Takkenpaddles, decided to prove his worth and kill it. He was a cheesemaker with novice experience in mace fighting.

Just after Zas began his preparations, new group of 8 migrants arrived.
Crocodile left. Zas checked the every single corner - no signs of it's presence. So, no promotion till next chance.

26th Sandstone
Web collecters told me that they heard strange buzing sound down there... It's at second cavern where we can't get, we can just see olm men camp through punched hole.
Suddenly a nightmare beast flied out of darkness - some kind of gigantic hairy mosquito!


Olm men got into fight and in a few hours of wrestling finished the beast, with the cost of 5 deaths. Only 3 of them survived.


One of then seemed to arose as their champion, and she's making friendly gestures to our scouts. Others two look hostile.

Actually, Nix is wandering at food stockpile, waiting for 'make bone bolts' job at crafts shop. As the head of hunter guild, does nothing and quite happy about it!

We dug a passage to second caverns. Recklessly brave and greedy dwarves ruched down to collect what left of Paboz vs Olmpeople fight. And got terrorized by one-legged olm woman spearman.
Alasimo, two-legged olm woman spearman just laugh watching her companion trying to pursue some farmer.


23rd Moonstone
Hooray! We've breached magma sea while was digging down there, and found precious adamantine!
Too bad we have strick order from King Etur do not mine it, till His Majesty himself cancels this order.

At the same time, we've breached third cavern.

25th Moonstoone
- Zas. Have you heard of that one-legged olm woman who's disturbing our haulers down there? Go and take care of her. This will be your test. Wypie shot her into remaining leg, so I don't think this is much deal.

Judge hall, i.e. my own chambers
- So, Zas, tell us why did you left?
- I.. I got injured, sir.
- Was it serious, Mistem? - Mistem Golden shock is our chief medic.
- I say no. It's just a few cuts in right foot, made by sharp wooden stick. I would leave this to heal by itself, without any need of bandaging.
- So, Zas, you retreated because of few minor cuts, thus breaking the order. As the head of Military Tribunal I say - you are to be exiled to the lowest cavern. Guards- take him away!

We had a crundle invasion.

- They taste crispy!

Zas, Exiled Coward, is inhabiting his new home. He found the exit of adamantine pillar, and guarding it. I think I'll try to make him live by himself, gathering and eating plants, and suffering from beasts invasions. If he survive, we'll take him back.

Our chief medic Mistem got a mood and claimed crafter's shop next to refuse pile

21st Obsidian
Today we  moved down to cavern to deal with that olm man problem. As we left, immediately goblin snatcher sneak in, and made a hole at some jeweller's hand. I worried about all those snatchers.

23rd Obsidian
We dealt with olm men and returned to goblin thieves. There were two of them, one was slaughtered byWinterdirge's steel hammer, and the other wounded Marx's hand and escaped. Marx will have to wait till Mistem completes his artifact...

26th Obsidian
Those snatchers were scouts! We were ambushed by goblin squad of 5 swordsmen and an axeman, while returning from unsuccessful hunt for thief.

We dealt with inveders. 2 dead, one lies dying and other escaped, but suddenly - another ambush!!! Two of us are already wounded

Winterdirge, our brave hammerer, was surronded and died from wounds. He was fighting till the last drop of blood. We arrived too late... We had our revenge, but the loss is too heavy.


We need some animal scouts at the entrance. And do more recrutions from commoners!
