AttackMirrors - Story-Community fortress.

Whenever thou sharpen it - thou shalt grind it with stone.

We travelled though Void in hoped of finding new home. We settled here and wanted peace and glory, not intending to battle someone. We negotiated with our neighbour humans and avoided wars by ways of wizdom. Our fine machinery repelled all snatching attempts of vile goblins. We were mutually ignored by puny elves.

We lived our own way.

We were wrong.

The world itself raised against us. Our homes were continuosly rampaged by evil creatures, some of us were abducted, imprisoned and corrupted to Evil, and then returned to rampage those who survived.

I am Etur Gearpower, Eighth King of The Wall of Riddling. All of my predecessors were killed or captured by evil beasts, so probably will I. Last year I was attacked by night creature, who appeared to be Vabok Floorseal, the sixth king of The Wall of Riddling, abducted and tramsformed by another creature of night. I got wounded, but luckily managed to escape.

Today, after the century of suffering, we release our revenge upon forces of Evil.

We shall found new outpost, at the Tooth Of Libraries, where the Waxy Ash blackens the sky!
We shall forge our weapons, our bodies and our spirits!
And then -
We shall battle the evil at its own lair!


Here I'm starting new fortress, with hopes of as much epicness as possible. The world is based on vanilla DF .25 with a few changes:
- Bears, Yetis, Sasquatches are [PRONE_TO_RAGE:1]
- Giant Lions/Tigers/Cougars/so on are [LIKES_FIGHTING], also are crocodiles, gators, sharks...
- Added new leather material - waxed leather and reaction to produce it from leather + wax. Waxed leather's phys stats are copied from nail template. So we get new armor material, not so useless as common leather.

The main goal of fortress - prapare and attack the underworld.

And, for the sake of epicness, I'm setting these rules:
- All citizens are divided into two major groups, Nobles and Commoners. Commoner's duty is to work hard and die working, Nobles are to defend the country, produce and accumulate luxury and have fun.
- Commoners CAN NOT have luxurities at all. No bedrooms (dormitory with single no-quality bed), no dining hall, no meals to eat, no wine to drink (except for plump helmet wine only).
- Commmoner (and his family) CAN be ennobled to Nobles by one of this ways:
  - Prove it's worth by defeating a dangerous animal in single-combat, with weapon and shield only. But not more than once per season!
  - Work hard and get legendary status thought his labor.
  - Create an artifact (even by fey mood, so no legendary skill. Fell and macabre moods are in count, and I expect some of them!)
  - Marry one of Nobles.
- Nobles are to train with weapons and use their legendary skills for fortress wealth. They get personal quarters, dining hall, tomb and other luxuries. Feel free to be jealous and greedy!
- Due to scarsity of metals, metal armor IS FORBIDDEN! Use leather, bone, shell and wood pieces from elves, but metal is for weapons only! Also, we will not mine spoilerite till the last stage of Plan.
- Most !FUN! rule - Commoners should NOT be happy with their lives, and Nobles should assure that. If anyone has an idea to make Commoners unhappy - you're gratefully welcome!

some back-story added. Was fun to study legends for events. King transformed to night creaure attacking his successor... Oh, wonderful!

Dwarfings are still welcome. I expect embark team to be various military experts, since they are promoted to Nobles without any tests.

Just a good crossbow and bolts.  Also please train him in bone carving, so he can make his own bolts. 

Edit: Also, this is the fort you were talking about in the other thread right?

Yep, it is.
I think I won't spend starting points on bonecarving, but Nix can learn it by trying. Nobles can do whanever they want, even carve lousy stuff from bones  :D

I just meant train, dont spend points. 

If you ever make conversations or even POV's of my character, please make him act like a paranoid, edgy, militant noble.

First time you hold a pick and strike the earth, and it strikes you back.
Then you learn and train, and more you train, more valuables you get.
And at the end you squeeze the every valuable single piece from your mountain.

1st Granite, 100
After long long travel through lands of humans we finally arrived here. We stopped our wagon at the bottom of Waxy Ash. We took nothing but bronze bars from King's treasure, a pack of leather, anvil and some food supplies. Our most value is not the things, but our power and knowledge!

I am Gar Rockapeared, the sudden leader of our team, and hopefully, fortress. It's hard to explain how I got here... I'd better not. In few words, The King called me and gave orders - travel to certain place, settle, build, train perfect military by any means, whatever it takes. Huh...
There is something common among us - we're all warriors! I'm skilled with axe, Nix - archer, Winterdirge is good wit hhammer.. others are specialists in other martial arts. That means.. Oh, whatever, I'll think about it later. Now - strinke the  earth!

1st Granite, later
- I said - strike the earth!
- Shut up already. we don't have a pick.
- WHAT?!?!
- Yep. No pick. But 12 bronze bars.
- Well, then go forge some! we're at volcano lip!
- We can't. Lava is just one stage lower that we can reach. We need stairs!

- Oh.. dismount the wagon and make the stair. Who knows how to deal with wood?
- ...
- Ok, that's your duty then. Go!
- Sir, you should first give a name to your hamlet.
- Rathathel, i.e. Templering. Why, you say? No idea. Just write this down and GO ALREADY GET US SOME WOOD FROM THAT GODDAM WAGON!!!!!!

So while they trying to understand how to 'kill' wagon so it drop us some wood, let me introduce people we have here.

- Wait, i got to think...... Colonel Nix, I got an order for you! You take crossbow, bolts and go shoot some camels! Go! - I'm kind of general!

5th Granite.
- Sir, I've made the stair down to lava.
- Good! Now build there forge.
- We can't. There are too little space for a forge...
- Then construct there some floor! Why do I have to think after all of you! oh yeah, 'cause I'm leader... Now, orders! Build klin down there, and gather some clay. Make floor from clay and place forge over it. Got it? Go!

12th Granite
- Sir, I've ran out of bolts. - Nix, again...
- Did you shoot down some?
- Yes, one.
- Good! Orders - build there butchery and tannery from clay and butcher that camel. Nix, you'll be carving your bolts yourself.

2nd Slate
Finally we have a pick. And an axe. And spear, hammer, mace, sword... and another pick and axe.
Now, again - Strike the earth!!! We'll dwel at volcano's walls, with nice wide room for each of us. We're first here to settle, and we are free to make personal palace for everyone!

1st Hematite
Things are going smooth. We've made our fort's entrance, almost dug quarters for me and building main bridge over lava. Proper fortress needs proper enrance! Also I have some plans about that bridge...

Nix made first pack of bolts and shoot them all with no effect. No he's wandering around acompanied by two war dogs, pointing his empty crossbow at camels and does 'poof! poof!'. Stop that now, help us carrying that stuff!

We've made a set of futniture for all of us, but there are no place to set it yet.

19th Hematite.
Finally migrants came
- Welcome here, guys. I'm Gar, The Leader. You will call me sir, and do say nothing till I ask. Got it? Now I'm asking. How many of you?
- Uh... four... sir.
- Just four?! And what jobs you are?
- Well, I'm weaponsmith and wood burner, she is thresher, then she is dyer and can operate pump, and then he's woodcrafter and siege operator. Sir.
- Well. I think we can make some use of your talents, all of your. Now - get working!

You want a Commoner, right? 'Cause all unclaimed nobles so far are starting seven, where are no maksdorfs except Nix.
Actually, there are neither marksdorfs, nor crossbows except Nix and his steel one.
