It might be nice to know some more about how they manipulate flesh as they do, and how they acquired that knowledge.

Also, more about where they live.
And if they live on Earth, some interaction with humans?

I decided to splurge and do a map and go a bit into how they organize themselves in the underground ecology. However that eat into my time for exploring them from a more individual level, also have not quite gotten to showing how they deal with humans in particular, but the bit on trading should help bring some light to that I suspect  :D.

The intent is that they are portable as a concept and free to be transplanted into numerous scenarios from sword and sorcery fantasy to gothic horror or even as a quint little species in science fiction.

In hind sight about the royals I think I need to re-organize their culture section a bit.

Some stories about individuals would be nice, too. Give us an idea of what they think from the inside.

I thought I had the remains of one of my short stories on this that I could clean up and post a bit from but I seem to have misplaced it, I'll have to re-write that tomorrow if I'm not toasted from a Saturday shift at work.

Also! Hooray Second Page!

This is amazing. Will come in handy whenever an ailien civ is needed on short notice in some RP.

That is rather the point of me making them honestly, Oh also if your not as much of a geek about, well nearly everything here is some behind the scenes info:

the Royals are essentially biological fission reactors ;).

They use a combination of heat, heat differential and radioactive decay with their cells to survive.

So yes the nobles could in some settings know how to build crude fission bombs, or rather easily dirty bombs. They don't quite see a problem with fall out themselves thanks to that crazy hyper active immune system of theirs.

Hmm, doesn't that mean that any sensible military installation, where things like slave races can be done without and flesh field stuff is imported, would make it's surrounding area massively radioactive as a sort of fortification/trap, making them basically unassailable?

That would work but the closest analogue to such an installation that is likely to happen is an eccentric elder whose obsession is martial arts and disdain for none-noble life to extremely xenophobic levels and he is going to have to import all of his food, water and royal blood at great expense since you can't just send slaves to do it.

However such installations would be serious inconveniences to industry and less xenophobic nobles. It would be kind of like having to give your dog a lead lined suit when you took it for a walk because some bastard didn't care about how well he kept his car engine shielded. It likely would bring unrest and efficiency losses to any city that allowed such sites to be rampant.

However this does bring up some interesting ideas:

Perhaps they could utilize it as a kind of 'soft wall' with a few heavily fortified gaps... but then that is a lot of royal blood that has to be utilized to sufficiently irradiate potentially vast segments of land.

Its probably cheaper to build ACTUAL walls using slave labor then carefully trucking the stuff either by Noble Hands or in carefully sealed containers to be deployed by completely 'one shot' slaves that die before they can even finish their ordained tasks.

I'm not talking about anywhere near a any settlement, I'm talking about places of only strategic importance, where only soldiers have any businesses being. The equivalent of a mine field. You can't take your dog for a walk on a mine field, and military bases already import all their food, but nobody particularly care about that.

Ah I see what your saying and its my fault for not giving enough elaboration on Deep Noble Animal Utilization, that is fixed... we now have a section on Deep Noble Technology! :)

The analogy of a military base having no animal life would be more comparable from a Deep Noble Perspective to a military base today being setup with no computers, radio, combustion engines or any form of electronics.

I think the minefield analogy however is still completely apt, but such strategies would have to be useful under extremely LONG timescales and they would still need to be significant distance both from all noble industries, trade routes and water tables as well as having some form of decontamination period/washing system for exiting the territory.

Deep Nobles have no natural causes of death, as such those that dictate military action have to think centuries ahead of time and the inconveniences incurred from deploying Royal blood are for the most part weighed against any serious utilization of it outside of carefully stored containers.

Awesome ideas, maybe others should splurge out some? I actually have a few major ones.  I was writing a story on one of them a while back but my enthusiasm died.

Well if you like you could post them, also thanks for the praise, is there anything your curious about or would like a bit more information on regarding deep nobles?

I'm planning to work on a short story some time soon but been exhausted from work.

I will write these up sometimes, theyre all there lodged in my brain from years ago, albeit in probably less detail. Wouldnt take long.

I'm gonna reread the noble stuff and soak it up, see if I have any questions!

Maybe a picture of one of the more tortured, mechanical, and specialized servitors?

Although really? the servitors? That stuff is grotesque :)

I guess short stories shall have to wait a bit, that took up most of my down time.

I'll keep a watch on this.
In case I can come up with some comments or two.
I myself tend to do stuff like this,
I however have trouble focusing on one project at a time.
