Bwahahaha, that's terrible! Oh you poor person.

Lead is kinda abysmal for cutting/piercing weapons. Now, if it were a lead hammer...

What's wrong with using magma? That's almost always the easiest method.
I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.

Then it might've been atleast as good as wood :P

Its utterly terrible and therefore is perfect for giving to your greatest soldier! The leader of my axedwarf squad is using an artifact lead battle axe and does a fine job breaking goblins i'm sure your spear will generate some fun stories too.

Its not great as long as they stab with it.  If they bash with it instead it should shatter bone through armor, which makes it a pretty versatile weapon.

xD Lead warhammers kick ass. Lead's one of the densest materials that a warhammer can be made out of in DF - and hardness isn't yet taken into account, so deformation is not an issue.

Too bad dwarves will hardly ever bash enemies with it.

It'd be nice in a weapon trap in your dining room for decoration.

I just got an idea.

A weapon trap just outside my fortress but inside my main line of defense with all the useless artifact weapons stuffed inside.

I want those goat bone axes and lead spears to instill fear into my enemies!

Bonus points if you also have an artifact mechanism.

Exactly! If your champion lives long enough to die of old age with 100's of kills it'll be a real achievement. Many can claim to have slaughtered a thousand or more with candy axes but how about a lead spear? You can give it to your "gladiator" for a symbolic challenge.

Can't go wrong with going the trap route like others said. Loading up on artifacts in your platinum clad statue garden of decorated masterwork platinum statues should go a long way towards stopping any possible tantrum spiral

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Especially cool if you consider you can view the weapons kill list and see how its done over the decades

That's a coliseum weapon. Use it to massacre unarmed prisoners. One on one your dorf might actually kick ass with it just because of the accuracy modifier but any kind of real combat situation is going to see them slaughtered.

Training weapon. Will barely hurt anything, and also make your Dwarves more MUSLEH quickly.

Quite useless - too deadly for training, too weak for real combat. Oh, and,,,

Even for blunt weapons, lead is less attractive than our regular materials (which don't seem to have a clear hierarchy). Stiffness and toughness do matter, even though regular combat doesn't permanently damage weapons yet, and lead is too far behind silver for the slightly higher density to put it ahead.
Platinum is excellent, gold seems somewhat ahead, brass may well be.

I had no idea the other factors were taken into account. Huh.

Ah well. In reality, a lead weapon would actually only be lead-cored; they used to do this with staves and things to give them a little extra oomph. It'd be awesome if that could be done... Silver warhammer cored with lead? Hello, pancake.

Actually, I'd say about 1 attack in 4 is a bash with spears.  At least, thats what I'm seeing when you draft a migrant (axe|sword|mace) dwarf into your spear squad and they have only just reached adequate (years 2 - 4, depending on training efficiency).
