"Fire, fire,
build-a-pyre.
Wait for the Tall Man
and-say-his-name.
Fire, fire,
burning-brighter.
Call to the Tall Man
so-he-can-hear.
Fire, fire,
rising-higher.
Now name the Tall Man
Krln-kir-Yrl-vnt"
The words call to you, even across such vast distances. Somehow they have been given greater strength, and they lead your mind back, back up the river Barr, back up the mountains, to the forest clearing where a pyre burns in shades of blue.
There stand your followers, weary and sore-throated from their long vigil, chanting the three verses over and over. Finally their efforts pay off, and you rise from the flames in spirit if not in body.
The clearing is hectic. A goat lies slaughtered upon the altar, bowls of dusts and herbs around it. Firewood has been piled up; there are signs that the pile was much larger earlier in the night. And opposite the altar, in an unnatural sleep, lies the innkeeper's daughter, upon a pile of bedding, surrounded by various medicines. Her body is flushed, more still than would be expected from the proximity to the fire, and a dark aura surrounds her.
Upon seeing you arise from the flames, the children finally cease their chants, and many fall to the ground, exhausted. Two of the girls, who you recognise as the innkeeper's younger daughters, manage to hold themselves upright as that they may address you. They briefly recall what occurred after you left a month and a half ago:
The girl's siblings- your loyal followers- made sure to take good care of their sister. No one suspected any motive but sisterly love.
The witch did some tests and confirmed that the girl was pregnant. She offered her a potion which would kill the unborn child. Your followers whispered into her ears at night, urging her not to take the potion. It worked, and she refused it. (Not that the potion would have worked)
The witch explained to the girl that when cousins... make children, they can often suffer from deformities or illnesses. When the girl pointed out that it is not always so, the Witch offered to tell the childs fortune, to see if it will be born deformed. Your followers bribed the spirit which inhabits the witch's crystal ball, with promises of dark power, and escape from its confinement, if it tells the witch the child will be born healthy. The spirit agrees, and the witch was deceived.
The priest came to bless the child, as that it may be free of demonic influence. But your followers despoiled his shrine in secret, so the gods refused to hear his plea.
So the child survived untouched, and all was well. But recently the girl acquired a high fever, and began to speak in tongues at the strangest times. Her eyes- green, previously, have clearly become a bright blue. She hungers for raw meat, but even on the rare occasions that your followers can sneak some to her, it does not sate her hunger. Many of the villagers worry; her parents, the witch, and the priest all grow concerned, if not suspicious. Your followers have not the knowledge or the capacity to help her; thus they devised a manner to summon you even from long distances, by using herbs and powders to colour the fire blue, and singing a new verse of their own creation.
They beg your aid. Well, you should
-Scold them for interrupting you, and depart
-Use raw power to keep the girl alive and healthy
-Figure out what ails the girl, and devise some method by which she might be kept safe
-Or something along those lines
