Well, some people are insulted by being called homosapian.

You accused an entire fandom of a sexual taboo. More so, everything it's trying to avoid. It'd be worse than me saying everyone who listens to pop music are a sub genre of BDSM.
Oh OK, this explains why some people were annoyed when I compared the two. When I said furries, I meant as a whole, that is, mostly those who just like drawing/writing anthropomorphic animals and the like, as opposed to just those who 'like' anthros. So yeah, I didn't mean to imply that bronies have the same thing as that, I just meant that the brony community from what I've seen and understood gets a knee-jerk dislike from people for the same reason as how the Rule 36 furries have made it so that people who identify as furries and like drawing/writing about anthros tend to get shtick about it by other people, that is, a vocal/prominent minority have made people dislike the entire thing.

It was quite a bad example really, in retrospect.

Same here, I don't automatically associate 'Furry' or 'Brony' with sexual behavior, just with being a fan of anthropomorphic artwork, shows, etc. anymore than I would think a 'Trekkie' is someone who has sex while wearing Spock ears.

There is a pretty big leap between 'fandom' and 'fetish'.

Either way, there must be some reason that the MLP fandom gets so much hate, correct? It didn't just come from nowhere.

As for me, I refuse to have an opinion either way precisely because of clusterfucks like this.

The reasons are pretty obvious, but they're never the same.

Also, Bronies are just a sub-type of Furry. If you are a big fan of any anthropomorphic mammals (aside from, ya'know, anthropomorphic humans...), you're a Furry.

Not really, no. Liking Bugs Bunny cartoons does not make one a "furry". It's a pretty distinct subculture that bronies don't seem to overlap with very much.

I'd say the big difference is for furries it's rule 36. Being a fan, and a 'fan.'

Big diff. Again, slightly insulting.

You're being insulting yourself by assuming that all furries have an associated sexual fetish/fixation. This is not true. If you're going to be defending your weird subculture, please at least try not to be unnecessarily insensitive or ignorant about other people's weird subcultures. The furry subculture is a lot broader than any sexual fetish or set of sexual fetishes.

It's wrong that I find someone's implying a fanbase has sexual fetishes over an innocent cartoon? (Which was a misunderstanding through three people). Which it's also persecuted for I might add. Honestly up until this point I never knew there was a non-#31 furry subculture to begin with.

Yeah, this is basically what I was getting at. Not that I have any freaking clue what "36" and "31" refer to; maybe using actual words would help? I can gather enough from the context, though. Probably.

Goddamn it! I forgot the marshmallows!

Also, @Loud Whispers:

Wow, this is the most serious I've seen you since those internet censorship threads. Several pages and hardly a single wacky antic in sight.

#1 and #2. Plus we'd both want to avoid the context it covers ;)

What if the ponies grow up to be full-grown horses, then die of old age?

Why would there only be ponies? I'll be damned if this is some parody of that kid's show again.
