I'm quite surprised for a community as nice as bay12 to harbor such hate against anyone at all, let alone a specific group merely because they enjoy a cartoon. Odd.

Funny how even disliking MlP gets qualified as hate. I don't hate MlP. But my patience was gone in the last thread where it got out of hand, and then proceeded to get more out of hand.

Personally, I don't care if you're a fan of Death Metal, techno, sparkling vampires or whatever....it's not the content of the show that's been the issue. It's about the maturity level of some of the fan base. While the more mature members might feel like they're getting painted with the same brush, they're not. Unless they choose to get as obnoxious in defending their past time as the people that started the whole mess in the first place.

Mature people can let each other enjoy their own past times. It's the people that don't understand what respect for other people's personal space is about that's become the problem. We all share this space, and much like MlP fans wouldn't appreciate a daily diet of images denigrating MlP, non-fans don't appreciate when 5 bronies get together and suddenly it's two pages of people having a conversation through .jpgs. 

Luckily, the message came down loud and clear from on high, and it's not been an issue since.

More like when did the entire internet become one. It's like Ice-nine mixed with furries.

The first post that talks about bronies. Up until here, no one talked about the fanbase itself.
And if you really don't spot the offense here...

I really wish bronies didn't have a pathological need to seek recognition from everyone else. I really wouldn't care then. But it seems like every MLP fan has throw it out there in the hopes of finding other bronies, even though they have message boards, video games and an entire fan culture.

Ever had that friend who really likes something, and refuses to admit it's possible someone doesn't like it, and therefore refuses to ever shut up about it? Yeah. That's bronies.

TBH it's probably a lot like MAGGGMMMAAAA and DF for people who don't like DF. Eventually, they just get sick of hearing about and start getting hostile.

Shit and i thought /co/ was all about comics and stuff and not about gay ponies. 

I'm sure this is just an overreaction on my part, this isn't insulting to anyone at all.

I just was shocked since it felt like I had returned to the forum after a lengthy hiatus to find it disturbingly transformed and alien, like Planet of the Apes (but with Bronies instead of Dr. Zaius).

Said jokingly of course, so the above doesn't really count.

The only thing really that's insulting in that whole post was the "gay ponies" remark; "I see many of you hate bronies" was someone's summary of what they'd seen thus far, but you're not pointing anything out to back that up besides one juvenile insult.

Again, I'm not seeing hatred so much as remarkably civil disagreement and dislike for a given show.  Two of the posts you quoted as examples of hatred are mine, and I already stated clearly I don't hate fans of the show, I just don't care for hearing about it here.  If "I'm not interested in hearing about your favorite tv show" constitutes hatred to you, you are entirely too sensitive.

Also the gay ponies post comes from me. First, i do not hate the show. I even watched it to see why it's so popular. I didn't understand what's so special about the show and personally i won't watch it again, but I do not hate it. I think the word "hate" in general is a little bit overused regarding the true meaning of hate. Also in my opinion: ponies=gay (gay as dolphins and rainbows ). But maybe MLP takes it to a whole new dimension where even an adult heterosexual men can look this show without being ashamed

If I may burst in here, I want to say that I found some of your comments to be a bit insulting. It's good to see that you didn't want to insult any bronies, but you worded your opinions a bit unfortunatly. Bronies are getting a lot of hate on other parts of the internet and it's mostly worded the exact same way. However, it's nice to see that you didn't want to actually insult us at any point.

I'm not insulted, I'm not even mad, I'm just saying if you're going to leave snarky comments, keep it to yourself or summarize it in a constructive way to the people it matters to. You've just gone up and said that every brony has an OCD requiring them to seek attention from everyone on the internet, and that there's something wrong with them forming communities, and that justifies hate. Fan culture? Guess what sustains it? You seem to not get it at all.

Hate being overused? Then you go on to make the gay comparison? You know the colloquial term used for gay, and generally the amount of times it's used as a slur. And quite honestly your last sentence is just down right odd. And if you haven't noticed, I left out the names of all of the quotes so that people wouldn't get singled out.
