Fey Mood!
« on: January 22, 2012, 01:19:28 pm »

One of my dwarves/dwarfs has taken up a fey mood, thans to some meddling with Runesmith. She has taken up residence in her room, and refuses to come out and do anything. She is an Adept Engraver, and a Skilled Mason.

I have a Mason's workshop, and a craftdwarf's workshop (the ones she would possibly choose). Neither has any current occupant, and yet she refuses to claim either of them.

Any idea how to make her do something, before she goes berserk?

Can she reach the work shops? What is her highest skill?

The workshops are accessible, as they are placed in the centre of a room, with a two-square space around each. Her highest skill is engraving, then masonry.

You sure? Because workshops have impassable tiles of their own.

Otherwise;

I wonder if you got a soap maker in a mood...

And forbid the first material...

Iron Soap?

I'd say that the important workshops that you need in this case would be a masonry shop and a craftsdwarf shop. I believe that the masonry one is what they need but I'm not 100% certain on that for engravers. Also yeah, check to make sure that the workshop center tiles actually are accessible and aren't being blocked off because the bottom left of the workshop is impassable and you have it in the top right corner of the room or something like that.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

I gave up. Reset the mood back to (none) in RuneSmith.

Bitch kept lying in bed, rather than making artifact thrones of soap.

I'm pretty sure it's an established fact that RS moods generally result in insane dorfs.

Setting the "mood type" in Runesmith will not cause your dwarf to actually enter a strange mood - that just sets the dwarf's "insanity type" so it no longer behaves normally. A proper strange mood also creates a special Job (with a random set of job items) and assigns it to the dwarf in question, which is why your "moody" dwarf probably just said "No Job" instead of "Strange Mood" in the units list.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
