I would not worry about it too much. Volg is a Dark Lord while Armok is a Dark God. One we actually deal directly with and the other we make temples and put lots of lava around. Also sorry about not being able to get onto the serve since the move to the new world. Oh and idea, what do you guys use for lighting because I think lava makes a really nice lighting system when combined with the redpower cover strips and such.

We use RP lamps, and glowstone and torches. basically everything.

og dont ask us about player detectors! Vattic and i spend hours trying out designs, all broken.
the only design i have seen work was Electronics sheep powered detector...... they just have a habit of dying.

i have been thinking about tesla coils as a player detector... just need to find a way to detect the tesla discharge.

Have a batbox send a redstone signal when not full and place it before the coil.

Sorry to interrupt your conversations, but I need to be added to the faction again. My username is tt8989, and I am registered in the thread with player information and such.

Hmm... Tesla would work--adds another layer of defence to my kill-bots too...
Pretty expensive and power-hungry, though.

What is this "sheep-powered" detector, and would an iron golem work too (rediculous HP, right?)

And a frame-powered killbot with a brain running off sheep, breeding them internally and dispensing them into sensor pens is too hillarious NOT to build someday...

How many tesla blasts is needed to kill a max armored player anyway?

and what kind of situation is it you need to detect a player?

To know where to aim the dispenser/move the platform to keep the player in the centre of the killzone for as long as possible.

Have you considered instead of trying to detect where a player is, instead trying to funnel the player where you want them? If you use pistons to just partially block a passage instead of fully they will be forced into the line of fire. You could keep the nice hallway but still have enemies right where you want them.

@TT lemmi know when you are on and i'll invite. use steam if you have.

Player detectors and why we need em:
Besides for killer robots we need them for detecting raiders in our base, both to trigger traps, but also just to see where they are, on our control map.
also simply because pressure plates are so obvious.

The sheep detector works on the principle that sheep only walk around when a player is within a certain distance(i think it's 32 maybe).
when they do walk around they walk on to a pressure plate that sends a signal, and triggers a piston pushing the sheep back.
This is however pretty unreliable. it triggers sometimes, sometimes not, it functions like radioactive decay with detection averaging out.
And the server is oftentimes killing our sheep, making the whole thing break.

Tesla coils: it's something like 60 blasts to kill a diamond player. to kill a player within 2 seconds you'd need 30 teslas, 15 MV transformer and 15 MFSU's.
But they have an important detectional use, i just tested it:
if you have an MFE feeding a Tesla, with only 128 EUT input, set it to Emit when full, and hook up a cable, the cable will turn off if a player comes within 4 blocks of the tesla, and turns on again about 5 seconds later when the MFE recharges.
And the thing is teslas are so weak that you can easily get zapped by one, and you won't even see a heart decrease. so it's safe to use as a detector.

And in other news:
When i logged on this morning i was greeted by lockdown, and signs saying some people had been scouting us.

This as far as i'm concerned is great news! we have not had a single raider since we built the security system, and it's about time!

Our raiders and I have been fighting countless battles and amounting copious grievances to get people to want to raid us. I think I've just been making them scared though. Killing people frequently and easily while backed by the hulking armored mass that is volg tends to cause fear more than it does rage.

Parthia has been invaluable to us in the raiding department, by the way. I have sets of diamond armor just lazing around in my storage that could never have been gotten had it not been for their assistance. Not to mention x_meph has a sense of sniffing out plunder and murder that rivals mine.

Also, the uranium cells will need replacing soon! I'll try to get on that but I'm not sure how to do it exactly >_>

I can do that as soon as someone tells me where the reactor is and how to get to it.

Telling me our password for the main door would be nice, too.

nobody touch the reactor! there is a reason they are passworded!
our power is fine without it anyways, if we have power problems it has to do with the cables.

EDIT: just went on to check and all the MFSUs are full of energy. we have plenty of power.... might be due to the fact that we have 12 HV solars!!!

How can I get in on the raiding?
get some decent diamond armor and be around if I'm ever about to try something big.

Elsewise, take that same armor, some food, and a sword and prowel. I started doing raids alone, and built up rapport with other people who raided in the meantime.

Speaking of raiding, me, meph and dd hit up inflatacorp yesterday, and got a great haul, thanks to one of meph's mates giving us the coords.
