Thicker walls won't do much good from what I remember of the rules. They can keep bombing until they make an opening. Is that not the case?
   We just need more layers and some fake storage areas with a little bit of stuff in it. If they find a room full of chests that contain some resources they could very well stop right at that.
I agree with the rest of your post but fake storage isn't necessary. According to the rules: Once they breach the outer walls they have to stop using TNT.

He circumvented Towny. No, they didn't use explosives, those failed - Buppo dug out a block and then opened a chest before Towny put the block back.
In that way towny makes us more vulnerable. He'd of been breaking rules to mine those chests without us being a village. I see what you mean about thicker walls now.

How is that not an exploit/offence?

It's not an exploit by admin ruling, that's how.

   We got a visit from the people in the undersea city between spawn and us. They had been raided and was basically looking around for where their stuff had went. Nice enough people.

If they used the towny bug(which should not be allowed... we were actually safer before towny):
we just need 2 layers around our basement, i suspect they dug through the grass floor, then through the bunker.
we could also encase the bunker in CF.

from now on, all important floors must be made of 2 layers.

also, we could exploit the rules if we wanted:
you can only use tnt vs the outer wall, once you are through it, you cannot use any more...
we just need another wall, and our base will be impregnable!

Also, doors within towny will no longer work, we need to either use pistons, or some kind of double door.

He dug right through the reinforced stone. There's only enough time to dig through one block, not two, so the simplest thing to do is use ANY kind of block for the second layer of the walls, and only, only, only where the bunker area is aboveground. And we have no need to make a second wall, if we claim enough land there's no possibility of them ever getting close enough to use to use a TNT cannon of any kind.

Doors within Towny no longer work? Madness, they work fine. There's only enough time to break a block and right-click to open a chest, that's not nearly enough time to walk through a door.

Stop freaking out, you guys, it's a simple exploit with a simple solution.

Having an issue connecting to the server as of this evening, any advice?
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Minecraft.exe is set to run off of 64 bit java, same for the tekkit launcher, keep getting "Internal exception: java.net.socketexception: Connection reset" errors. Which area would error logs be posted? Can post if needed.

As an idea, one of the things we could do is place covers of the appropriate types (ie. marble, smooth basalt, sandstone) over the reinforced stone blocks at the base of the tower. This would serve three purposes:

1. Make the basic aesthetic pattern of the tower (you know what I mean, marble, smooth basalt, sandstone, repeat) go from the top to the bottom.

2. Add another layer to stop people doing the one block towny circumvention thing.

3. Make raiders think the base of the tower is vulnerable to a TNT cannon. If we ever get properly besieged any halfway smart raider is going to realize that they can't TNT the base and try to blow a hole in the vulnerable bits. But if they can't tell the base is RS then they could waste a cannon shot and give us the time to respond. 

Any thoughts?

Device: yes. That is excellent idea.

Ante: you Can you dig through a door. Then run inside before it gets replaced.
Thats why we need piston doors instead.

Using covers on the lower tower is a great idea. The only problem is that they could blast the covers off, mine the block behind, and steal from a chest. For this reason I suggest we make the blast proof walls thicker on the bunker.
