I have a question, is the fortress surrounded by a large cobblestone wall? Because I thought that I had found it, as I saw this Bendicut fellow, so I harvested some wheat and replanted it, because I was nearly starving at the time.
Then I was shot and killed.

I restocked the armoury. I found out that muskets are still semi-effective against high level armour, (they can one-shot full iron apparently, so massed fire should dent IC armour)

I can start manufacturing them in mass quantities given a supply of gunpowder (flint and paper would be nice too)

Or, given feathers and string I could start making crossbows. I don't think they are as powerful as muskets, but they are still "sniper" weapons.

Does IC shielding protect against poisoning? If not, we need cactus. Lots of cactus. Feathers too.

A spoony bard: no, that was probaby Bendicut's place. He has a musket. We live on an island, mostly underground/underwater.

Ah, could you send me a message/mail with the coordinates of our base? My in-game name is tt8989.

The last question on the application form has me stumped. Writers block is no fun.

Mine was just two lines about clubbing the winner over the head and running off with the loot.

I have an idea. With weaponmod, dispensers are more effective as weapons, right?
I propose to mine our own hallways. WAIT! It isn't as crazy as it sounds.

What if our halls had pressure plates in them that activated claymores (dispensers with shotshells/bullets/etc. in them) ONLY if one of the "lockdown" levers (kind of like fire allarms) was pulled?

Scenario A (best case):
People raid us. Somebody yells a warning. Everyone pulls the closest panic switch. Redstone torches in the walls change state and the mines go active. The attackers must reset ALL the switches to move unmolested through the base. They die of lead poisoning.

Scenario B (medium case): People raid us. Bombardment cuts a crucial wire. The panic system is split into two peices. The mines in one area are armed when any of the switches in thier area are pulled.

Scenario C (worst case): A sabotuer pulls a switch. Movement throuought the base is rendered dangerous for both attackers and defenders until the mines are defused.

EDIT: The "red alert" rails could be tapped into to lock doors, drop pistons, etc. too

Strangely enough, I got on without applying... I just went on the server then realized that it said "citizen" by my name after a while.

I've come up with an idea to keep our home safe from raiders. Won't keep us safe from people with access to TNT or griefers, but that's a different story.

I'll need at least 3 slimeballs and as much redstone as we can spare. Go.

no i didn't get any replacement stuff, for what we lost, didn't think to ask.
the stuff we lost in the griefing was pretty limited however.

i hope we haven't lost too much to the griefings this night.

did they blow anything apart from the stuff they needed to get in?
if they did, they were griefing.

EDIT: to the new(old) guys: we are at -200 +900
we have a bunch of one way doors leading in, so you'll have to have somebody let you in(or just destroy and remake the door)

i have made a second layer of glass in our dome to make it harder to crack,
i've added more doors to the top and repaired the damage.
i've also made one way doors into the tree farm, since it's a weak spot, so sadly the armoury has to be moved :(

can someone explain how the trap near the coke oven works?,
i'm scared to go near it....

I replaced the griefed parts, so no more problems on this side.

For the raid, we did have a nice discussion with Volg and Sod (the mods) about it. They concluded that the raid was not made accordingly to the rules, and they reprimanded one of the raiders. But that's all (for now, anyway).

We talked with the mods about the TNT cannon entry method, and I devised that we should immerse the whole island under water. I'll start levelling the island tonight.

And also note that entering iron doors using levers is allowed. Placing cut vertical slabs near the door stops raiders for placing levers.

Mine was just two lines about clubbing the winner over the head and running off with the loot.

You are. :)
Just wrote some lines and you'll be fine.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Nice idea. All mining shafts/corridors leaving the base should be trapped, like a real dwarf fortress.
