Well, I got us one sharpness 1 sword and one efficiency 2 diamond pickaxe.

However, I could get enchants much, much faster with a mob farm. It would take some work, but once done we might actually be able to pump out level 50, etc enchants and take on raiders toe to toe.

Should this be made aboveground or belowground? I don't want to waste space after all

The person supporting regenerating health, when asked why you can see when shot in the eye justified it as 'you put on an eyepatch'. When asked what happens when you are then shot in the other eye, he said that you put an eyepatch on that eye. When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.

Didn't someone use pistons to make a self-erecting/-regening wall once? Basicly a giant cobblestone generator outputting upward? (height limited, unfortunately)
And I know that it is possible to have a lava-coated, water-cored wall that has a slight healing factor...

Those would be suitably dwarfy walls for the aboveground castle -- or even BOTH sides of the moat some day...

Than again, Obsidian Jacketed is difficult enough...

By TNT not exploding, do you mean that it can't be activated, or that the entity neither knocks nor damages when the time expires?
If the latter, it might make a useful "burnable bridge", if expensive...

I can make a self-building bridge that we can use to get across the moat.

Also, I'm thinking about replacing the iron doors with one-way piston doors. Thoughts?

I find that spiders can hear through the earth sometimes.

so if we wanted a non-pressureplate trigger system for something, it's theoretically workable.

If you join the group you can still message me.

We have a redstone guy sorting out the air lock. Kahain will need around 60 sticky pistons however.

Hello everyone, I guess I am the new guy here, anyway, I designed a redstone airlock to use with our base.

Here's a youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFF7n4JjFSI

Tell me what you think.

Looks pretty nice, I have two problems with it however, 1) it doesn't close automatically (which while not a super big problem will probably end up with a dude getting into our base at some point) 2) it can only be closed on one side.
Besides those problems (which I don't think would be that hard to fix), it looks great.

Already working on an airlock 2.0 which includes an auto-closing mechanism, it may bloat the physical size a little bit, since I'd need to add timing elements, but it's not impossible.

Welcome to the fort Kahai! Size shouldn't be a problem, the amount of space totally within our control is now vast. We still need to make the sand walls to-the-bedrock to complete our defenses and maybe make the walls a bit higher. As it is you can jump from the walls to the mountain (just don't miss!). I've built most of a central staircase and a new stockpile, the old one will be drilled through by the staircase when complete but there still some stuff to move. This should hopefully give a bit of structure to the underground fort as people build off the staircase.

or maybe Valve goes out of business because they invested too heavily in something which then fails - like, say, human civilization.

Not tall enough looking, but it would be rather tricky to get a 3 high passageway with pistons. Also, you need to incorporate lava somehow.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.
