I'm still at the old fort in the main entrance. Not logged in yet. Is there anything I should grab before porting over to the new base?

Edit: Looks like there isn't anything worth taking so I ported to the new base. Will be able to play this weekend.

Edit to add: I can make wooden doors that automatically shut after being opened but the mechanism is quite large.
A pressure plate?
Nope. You can open the door by hand and it closes a second later.

I set up a door concept, where the "switch" to open it is the act of breaking a block of cobblestone. Since enemies can't break blocks, that makes this switch safe to put outside, as long as nobody leaves the door open.
We could just use a wooden door as the switch instead.

Edit #2: I built an example at our new base.

ok, i din't have time to read all of the emergency chatter.
However, they have to have been hacking, there is NO way to declaim all of our fort, we still have 150 power.

there is no way this could be a legit attack. they have declaimed our entire fort!

i don't think we shoudl leave our fort, there is no reason too. the old fort is unclaimed land, the same as any new fort.

AND if we move the fort, i vote for a new server anyways.
coz this is just gonna happen, with the new fort, somebody is gonna hack us.

anyways, the old fort is in no way ruined, they just stole a bunch of our stuff, which we can get back.

i have spent SOOOO much time building on this fort, and i am NOT gonna abbondon it.
if you guys don't wonna stay i guess i'll just have to make a new faction in the old fort.

the only way any of this could have happened if if somebody on our side, let them in and declaimed the area. i stress this:
ENEMIES CANNOT DECLAIM YOUR AREA if you have enough power, and we still have 150 power.

oh, and btw, the invaders have left us alone now.

and HOW did they get from the mine to our base? it's closed off with doors... unless somebody forgot to close them i guess *facepalm*

EDIT: i've now reclaimed most of our fort.

I really think we should go back to our old fort, we just lost our stockpiles, the entire fort(execpt the front door) is still intact, i think it woulkd be so silly to move the fort, when there is really no reason to.

I agree. The old fort has been left relatively unharmed, and it has all our buildings, abd it has the massive cave network (and I haven't found any caves in the new fort. However, it seems to be rich in ore.) Either way, I predict some very interesting engravings in the near future.

I declaimed it because we had something like 50+ chunks claimed and it let them declaim our valuable lands. We needed a fresh start elsewhere so as to avoid any raiders claiming and raiding our new base, and our old one has so many tunnels, passages, connections, etc that trying to fortify it once everyone knows where it is is unfeasible.

If you want you can try to rebuild it, though I don't see the point

I might wanna take a stab at helping out, I've had minecraft for ages but only did single player stuff that got boring quite fast...

so I'm a noobie when it comes to server stuff.
can someone give me a rundown of the steps I need to take to join the dwarven effort?

edit: I saw something about a steamgroup, I'll go join that to start with. :P

Greatjustice, there is no rebuilding, allmost the whoel fort in intact, i predict about an hours work to bring it back to mint conditions.
it does have a lot of holes, but ONLY becuase people are making them! i sealed off the fort a few days agao, and sombody must have dug a tunnel inside(or forgot to close a door).

the whole problem stems from the fact that some people let themselves be killed over and over again, causing us to lose power.
if we just log out when outnumbered, they will not be able to claim anything in our base.

so really, if people just played properly, this would not even be possible!

if people are inssisting on moving, i see no other option than to split up into 2 forts.

and maybe you don't care much for the old fort greatjustice, but you didn't build much of it. the people that actually build it, would like to keep it.

so the options moving forward is now:
a) everybody comes back to the old fort
b) some people move to the new fort, and take the faction with them. we make a new faction(allied to the old ofc)
c) reverse, the dorves stay, splinter group makes a new faction.
d) nobody wants to stay with me in the old fort, and so i will have to say my farewells.

i'd like to see what people think, and which option they like best.

One point, logging out when being attacked does not qualify as playing properly, in fact, it's enough to get you temp banned from most PvP servers.

so if somebody is spawn camping you, you get banned for logging out?
yeah right!

but actually, so many things here don't add up:
1: we were about 80 power above our land holdings, which means that 8 players had to die 10 times each for them to even grab a single peice of land.
2: they grabbed land in the middle of our fort, which should be impossible, sinceyou can only grab land from the edges.

so these are 2 things that are just quite impossible, leaving only the option of cheating.

does anybody know who they are or what faction they came from?

EDIT: i am still at the old fort, i will wait with logging in again untill we have resolved the stay/notstay issue, so i will be able to set the home thingy again.

EDIT 2: actually, i have a new surgestion... a couple of days ago we were talking of making a new training fort, for new members...
can't this new fort be that fort, and our old fort, the actual fort?

I will see what I can do about this. Give me a faction name and a weapon. I will become Armok's Hammer on the server and avenge the honor of the dwarves!

Set a guard on the base. We need to make sure the area is not plundered. I just need a free moment to get on...

The raiders got in because someone left a hole from some of the mine diggings. They walked right up our stairs and stood at our spawn killing us.

Ill be on later, need to sign some stuff for next year's uni accomidation. also: i suggest in future we hide a weapons and armour cash in places around the fortress. little box's hidden but for the destruction of a wall etc.

When we build, we should probably save up and buy obsidian blocks so we can layer our fortress walls in it and prove a major hinderance to anyone digging in. Will take a hell of a wile to get it done right up to the surface though. If we expand upwards that far.

In the meantime, we should have some guys in for guards. We cannot have a breach again.
