just go down into the moat at night every now and then, or find the tunnels into the surrounding deep caverns, youll easily find mobs of all varietys. may take a wile to get enought slimes though. shame we cant farm them somehow.

think its going to be a wile till we get a concrete idea on what were doing, for now we need the sand wall completeing and someone to do the front gate. after that we can start derping about a bit.

Meanwhile: I planted a forrest inside our fort on the surface xP its alot of wood and apples. ^^

I figured it might be useful to have something like this for designing floors.



While it's a nice spiral staircase I think it could connect to each floor better. Having flat landings for corridors to connect with might be an idea. I suggest something like this. It would leave us with a nice space between floors which we could use to have ornate ceilings and floors without it showing on both sides. It could also be used for redstone.

I'll happily modify what we've got into this if I'm not stepping on anybody's toes?

Just so you all know: I've blocked the surface entrance with dirt to stop people sprint jumping into the fort. It was tricky but possible. It left our spawn open to any skilled platformers.

what purpose does the sand wall hold anyways I know we are doing some kind of airlock trap but I don't know the spefics.

The sand wall will be filled with lava.
if the enemy mines out the wall(which they can't by the way) they will be flooded with lava.

youll have to chat with wayward device on the stairs thing but i cant imagine him saying no. as for the entrance, we should probably make a temporery airlock. untill kahai puts in his fancy maggigums.  meanwile im just nipping on every now and then to harvest stuff.

untill the stair wells done we cant define the floors and any projects will have to wait. :) when its all done we can move in and start building propperly.

As for the sand wall: 3 part wall, at the top the middle peice is 1 shorter than eather side, in this dip is magma, when some sand is broken it falls down, releasing a waterfall of magma onto someones head.

Yeah, any modification of the stairs (particularly to make them more ornate) is fine by me. I only really built them to give a bit of structure to the fort since the defenses where nearly finished and I knew we'd be starting on the real  building. I'll probably be on later, both DF and Starfarer releasing updates on the same day has really cut into my time. Damn awesome games, enslaving me with their awesomeness!

Status report:
  • Staircase complete. With ornate in mind I used a lot of half blocks (not really played since before they were introduced).
  • I installed a simple door that I suggest we cap each corridor with. It can be shrunk so that they are only 2 tall if 6 pistons a door is too many or we could just use iron doors with buttons.
  • I also modified the stockpile door so that it's button operated, automatically shuts, and is operable from both sides.
Edit to add: Just made us a floor plan of the level with the stockpile, forge, and potion room.


I've been wondering if five of us band together to donate it would only be €10 each to get Tier 3. It would get us all the useful benefits. The ones I have my eye on most are the "Set 5 private /home locations" (tier 3) and the "Access to CraftBook" (tier 2) ones. That last one would let us build great doors, bridges and anything else we can think of using those mechanics. Anyone interested in this?

turns out the you can't warp on the survival server!

so, no more fear of enemies setting warps inside our stuff!

and the donating stuff: ask me in a month. if we are still playing: sure!

hold on, seeing as how you already have a faction with a base, we could possibly use your "new" faction as a raiders base like we were planning on earlier (before our old one was punked) as a training/filter/forward base faction for the purposes of conquest. Seeing as how we know have a bunch of fairly tough enemies to take on (Edge, the Rangers, Warriors, and the rest of the factions that ganged up on us earlier) and our base is in a totally impractical position for raids (its a good 3-4 continents between our base and the nearest faction and even that is just ruins of a faction partially raided by Edge). With a forward base, revenge would be much more practical, and with the support of those random "I want a faction I'm a good archer etc etc" people we could bleed them dry without much cost to ourselves. Otherwise, we'll have to prepare a proper raiding group, work for enchantments (I've managed to do some minor work on that side of things, but we need a large in-base mob farm as I'm only practically able to get level 15 enchants on a regular basis even with the abandoned mines in the southron mountains), make a map room, and hope we can beat an established faction with that.

In more mundane news, I haven't been on for a while, but some things of note:

-We currently have something like 150 power to 50 land. In other words, unless you guys all go inactive or start getting killed repeatedly, we're basically safe from any attempts at land claims (so if enemy raiders can't make it into our base, its impossible to mine through as well) and strategic land claims are acceptable (don't overdo it though, if the ratio becomes 2-1 we might actually be beaten by clever raids if they plan far enough ahead and bring great equipment). Try to be somewhat active or our power goes down, making us much more vulnerable.

-On my last count, we have about 30 Dorfs, which probably makes us the largest faction on the server (too bad /f list isn't active) :D.

-We ought to finish the airlock and then we can start expansion, exploration, etc. A mob farm is something we really need (and I'll work on it later)

-We need enchantments! I've managed to pump out some minor ones (Two "sharpness" swords, one "efficiency" diamond pickaxe), but we don't stand a chance against the "major" factions as is. One lvl 50 enchanted weapon would be amazing, as big an investment as it may be. On that note, damaging potions would be exceptionally useful.

-We ought to do some raiding soon. The details for this need to be worked out (if we're strong enough, the random chumps in full diamond at spawn are AMAZINGLY well supplied, but otherwise we run the risk of painful deaths), but if we don't it'll take very long to get excellent equipment. Also, we need vengeance for our lost fort.
