Bedroom exploitation.
« on: September 09, 2006, 09:55:00 pm »

No dwarf on dwarf on dwarf action i'm afraid...

I carved out a 13x13-1 room and put in many beds and a few doors. Then I made each bed claim the whole 13x13 room. I looked at each dwarf as they slept. Very good bedrooms all around. Next, I installed a cabinet and a coffer into the room. Again, I looked at each dwarf at nap-time. Woah! Even though there is only one coffer and cabinet in the room, each dwarf had a coffer and cabinet listed in their holdings list!

It should be interesting to see if fights breakout once they start buying and storing stuff.

Same thing happens when you have 1 coffer in 2x2 room where a table is turned into a dining/meeting room and a chair turned into office. The single coffer gets owned "twice"

Three times if you put a bed in there and make a bedroom.  ;)

So dwarves like slumber parties. Didn't seem to bother Thorin & company in The Hobbit...

The value of the room itself is decreased to 25%, but this isn't current enough to handle the exploitation.  We'll have to make it worse, and possibly more violent.

Like... the room falling down a previously hidden natural shaft, or a cave in, maybe, due to compromising... stuff?

Or might just be a greater possibility of fist-fights started by fellow dwarves sharing a room. They aren't known for sharing well with others.

A+
Great idea
The more chances to incur some population control/darwinism I have, the better

Or have them grab any stray chalk lying around your fortress and use it to divide up the rooms themselves ala I Love Lucy.  Then you can get odd couple dwarf roommates and have them constantly bickering over whose preferences should decide what is kept in the one cabinet.
