Oh, I know all that. IIRC, the oldest Space Marine still alive and active is Bjorn the Fell-Handed, a dreadnought in the Space Wolves chapter, who fought alongside the Emperor 10,000 years ago.

There's a bit of interesting contrast though, as one of the "grunts" in this game is just over one hundred years old. And my understanding is that very few Marines last so long anyway. Considering the stuff they have to fight, I'm not surprised!

And yeah, I'm pretty fond of the DoW series. Making a new chapter makes perfect sense to avoid alienating die-hard fans of canon chapters.

Librarians don't come in until later missions. Since they have all sorts of extra rules, I'm not gonna worry about it until then.

You are one of the sergeants, yes. Unless you die, then someone might take your place. Gotta make sure everyone gets a chance!

varies from 5 to ten

Depends. The first mission has five marines. The second has five different ones. The third has ten. The last mission has 4. Squad layouts change frequently. Don't worry, each mission will have a briefing to explain everything.

Honestly, the rulebook makes no mention of friendly fire. It says "any model or blip", no specifics. I have to assume that the heavy flamer is as deadly to other Terminators as it is to genestealers.
