How the hell do you stab a bronze collosus' arm off with a spear!?

The same way you can stab a finger off with a knife. The spear goes straight through the ENTIRE arm, the axe just tips the surface.

What kind of bronze collosus has such a small arm... :/

What's your average Bronze Colossus look like? :p

Keeps changing. Sometimes they ook like purring maggots, sometimes clouds, based on the statues they drop.

And sometimes they look like a statue of dwarfs traveling, and it relates to the founding of your fort.

"Urist, come quick! There's a huge monster attacking the fortress!"

"By Armok! Well, what's it look like?"

"Um... you, actually."

I didn't think the marksdwarves would actually kill it, I was more irritated that only 2 or 3 of them was actually willing to give fire support to their comrade while the others just loafed around.  And one of those guys was packing bone bolts like a fool (I really should not have have produced bone bolts on repeat for several years, stupid dorfs use them in combat like idiots.)  I guess that's peasant levies for you.

I made sure she got a good tomb for at least standing her ground and preventing the colossus from penetrating my defenses.  She'll have to wait for the seige to end to actually get buried though.

If it's an articulated statue then I suspect the dwarf pushed the spear into a joint seam, discombobulated the joint and then popped the joint right off by levering with the spear, whose excellent rigidity helped with the operation.   :D

I had a bronze collosi drop a statue in adventure mode, so i drop it off somewhere and start a fortress on it.

4 years into the fort a FB comes, it kills half the fort and makes it to the dining room, only then do i notice something,

its a statue of said FB that i got in adv mode.

I vaguely remember that when a statue or engraving or anything else has an FB on it, it will give no description and just say 'forgotten beast'.

Bronze collosi size average size is 20,000,000 (the same as a whale) compared to a dwarf's 60,000. Taking the cube of that and assuming mostly human proportions shows they'd have arms about 7 times the width and circumference and 49 times the cross-sectional area.

The spear was obviously thrust with such force that it created an explosion upon impact with the bronze arm. I don't know how the dwarf survived the molten bronze flying everywhere, perhaps he/she had some adamantine armor.

don't forget that dwarven ballista bolts are a tree trunk with a point, so im not surprised that their spears are large enough to sever limbs off BC.

Think of the spear as a crowbar -> Stab and twist, arm falls off.

Lever = MULTIPLY THE FORCE = Arm sailing off in an arc

My guess is this is where a Militia Commander with a decent Military Tactics skill would come in handy to get your Military Dwarves sorted out ASAP.
