Terraria Server: McDonald's World
« on: January 20, 2012, 06:18:44 pm »

I have (hopefully correctly) set up a Terraria server. I also hope that Toady allows stuff like this on the forums, and if so, I hope I chose the right place to post it. If anyone wants to test it/join, put in the IP:
174.61.232.47

I would appreciate if someone would test this for me.

I'll be on in a bit. Also yes this is allowed (see the 3 Minecraft server threads and Kael's Minecraft and Terraria server thread here).
e: The IP listed doesn't work for me. It gets stuck on the "Connecting to 174.61.232.47" message. The port is 7777 like default, right?

I am also stuck on the same screen. I'd love to play though

blugh tutorials are confusing

I'm using a D-Link router, and I can't find anything like step 4 on their website. I probably should have not forgotten to forward my ports (whatever that means) when I set this up. Damn you, Hamachi! Why must I pay to use you? YOU ACTUALLY WORK!

EDIT: Also, try 192.168.0.1

192.168 is the beginning of local IPs. It won't work, they're the address of a different computer on every local network. Just keep googling. Maybe find your router info and try entering that IP into your browser, logging in, and port forwarding through that.

Just keep googling what? D-Link only has one website. Probably. Also, what router info? I was using Portforward to find my IP and I'm not sure WHAT TO DO. OOOOOOOOOH GOD.

I could most definitely use some help.

What you need to do to port forward is to figure out what model router you have and see if that will tell you the ip. Actually, go to my network places and find your router, and its ip. If you go to that ip in your browser you can set up port forwarding.

Also hamachi is free if you're not doing anything commercial with it.

Sorry If I can't help too much, I've only ever played Terraria online with hamachi.

It's my Hamachi IP. Hopefully it'll work. The password is puh.

If you want to use hamachi you'll have to set up a network and use the network name, not its IP, for other people to get on.

You'd need more info for us to really help. If you really can't get it to work you could try sending me the world and I could try hosting. Although my computer is only 2.8 ghz dual core and very old, and the computer I could use for a dedicated server is single core 3.2 ghz and old. And by old I mean like 2002-2004.

Are you trying to play on the same computer that you are hosting the server on? If you are, try connecting to it with 127.0.0.1 (the localhost ip, i.e. connecting the computer to itself) instead of the Hamachi IP. If you're not playing on the same computer that you are hosting on, try connecting using the host computers local ip (i.e. 192.168.x.x).
