Having a siege, but no big deal. I sound the alarm, send the dwarves to burrows, man the ballistae, and activate the military. Then I realize: They are all MOUNTED ON CAVE SWALLOWS!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I send out my military, they fly off. Then the crossbowgobs do strafing runs on me. I say, o carp, and send the military back inside. Then I draft my legendary marksdwarf/hunter and send him out for sniping detail. He's only killed 2 GCS, and wounded another one. When I station him near the flock, he runs over and bashes downed pilots with his wooden crossbow, instead of the masterwork silver hammer I gave him and trained him with. He does this because he refuses to pick up more than one or two bolts at a time, despite all the ☼iron bolts☼ I have in huge stacks inside. He walked all the way to the edge of the map to pick up a (-bronze bolt-). HELPPPPPPPPPPP!

Right now, toady is sitting in an elf costume reading this post while touching his fingertips together lightly..
"Excellent..  everything is going according to plan."


Its the only reasonable explanation..

How could you? Accuse Toady of being an elf lover? You clearly do not KNOW him. He's obviously in a dwarf costume, hence the name 'Dwarf Fortress', not 'Elf Forest Retreat'.

In an attempt to get this back on track:

Try forbidding all single bolts, that way your marksdwarf will have no choice but to use stacks of bolts.

On the bright side you'll get allot of GCS meat and leather from this
