My miner stepped on a bee?
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:32:39 am »

Well, I think he stepped on a bee because after he got stung, his left foot is
dehydrated. Is a dehydrated foot a consequence of getting stung by a bee?
Or is it just because i currently don't have a water source?
En plus, he threw a tauntrum and heavily injured two of my dwarfes
with his copper pick, causing a tauntrum spiral, which supplied me with lots of fun.  ;)

Thanks in advance!

His left foot isn't dehydrated. I'll assume you haven't payed much attention to your dwarves. The HUNGRY or THIRSTY tags do not relate to specific body parts.

You most likely don't have booze or water, or he can't reach it.

Don't dwarven ladies know they're beautiful the way they are? They don't need to starve themselves to look like those elven bitches.

I'm sorry but that is actually hilarious!

Will wine do it too? Because i am overflowing with plump helmets
and im just curious because dwarfs seem to be
little fatties that only like beer.

Hm.

What if we make bee stings cause dehydration?

That'll increase FUN LEVEL by 5, if not 10.

Why shouldn't bee stings rip legs of? Fun level 9001 if you
get an angry bee swarm :)

5 what?  Crundles?  Magma-curies?  The correct answer is Urists per game year.

Bees stinging people kills the bee.

This is because bee stingers have hooked barbs on them that latch the stinger into the skin of their target, so when the bee pulls away, it pulls off its stinger and part of its abdomen, gutting itself.

The type of alcohol you make has very little effect. Dwarves will get tired of drinking the same type for prolonged periods, resulting in some bad thoughts and a decrease of happiness.
The type of plant you use also has a value multiplier, higher quality plants make better booze, which makes dwarves happy. In other words, make wine as much as you like.

If you want to view the value multiplier on different plants, I suggest you consult the wiki.

Oh, and OP bees FTW!

And this actually evolved for a purpose (for the hive, not the bee): the poison-sac will continue to pump venom via the stinger, even if it's ripped out of the bee's body.
I've learnt this the hard way, when I was a kid. :P

Whoa, i can remember my first bee sting too. I was trying to grab it with two fingers (it stung into my cheek, piercing the fat and
bruising the mucle behind it.) I ended up pushing it even deeper inside and since it has a barbed stinger, it was not a pleasing
experience as my parents pulled out using a tweezer.
My face felt dizzy for some hours.  ::)

....We could probably mod evil-biome bees that cause necrosis when they sting things. That, or paralysis and extreme pain (hooo.....that's a sucky combination for Urist McTestSubject....trapped, paralysed next to the hive as they sting him into deeper and deeper agony. hey! That's weaponisable!).
