Wait, fuck the what, I don't even know.
« on: January 19, 2012, 11:46:32 am »

Lovely.

I'd like to discuss this, I have left one person to "Decorate with Bone" on repeat for a while, he seems to be taking the nearest item, which is this because he leaves it in the workshop and decides to put more bones on it. Stupid dorfs.

Does it weigh any more than an undecorated chestnut training sword?

It's actually usual behavior. They also look for the "closest" item through z-levels, so if you have a weapon stockpile right below a craftshop where you put a decoration order through, the craftsman might go 10 levels below to grab a crappy training weapon to decorate instead of the gold goblets you have 2 tiles from their shop.

Also, as long as there's a wide variety of bones to decorate with and the craftsman doesn't go to eat, drink, sleep or on a break(AND no one comes by to take the item back to storage) the item in the shop will be worked on until it's been decorated with every kind of unique bone you have in the fort.

That looks like a fantastic weapon to give your Captain of the Guard, though. Decorative and not lethal.

I like the fact that it contains no metal whatsoever but has an image of the god of metal on it.

Yep. I once had a dwarf decorate the same large gem over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over because it was the first thing he started decorating with bones and large gems can't be moved because they lack any appropriate stockpile.

Not giving them a big enough profit margin.

(deliberately missing the point for the sake of humor)

no, the mistake is that it is not used ON elves...

no really, sell it or use it for arena battles.

Don't sell it to the elves.  Gift it to them.

Gift it to them with extreme prejudice.

With [SLOW_LEARNER], dwarves probably don't sit around and talk anymore. They just stand in the same corner altogether, staring at each other, sticking their bearded lips out trying to make sounds. And giggling when someone actually says a whole word.

I was thinking more of a forcing the elves to take it.
