Sorry for misleading. It's pre-order right now. I have XCOM related sleep deprivation.

So, I was watching yesterdays live stream. A looot of "Is this game anything like Dwarf Fortress" questions came up.
Most of the time the dev who played the game was decorating stuff... I preordered this because of dwarfs but I am not sure how bland this is really going to be.

They say it is more closely related to Them Hospital and Dungeon Keeper than Dwarf Fortress. After watching the Stream I am more convinced that it is a management game. A budget title really, thought that's not bad. Just don't expect a AAA DF game.

That's still great praise for any game.

AH yes, good old Theme Hospital.
But let's not fool ourself into thinking it will be exactly like those two.
It's a game of it's own and should be treated like that.

The first feedback from RPS is not encouraging, but this game could still prove entertaining:
Quote from: RPS
However, I suspect that, even for $10, A Game Of Dwarves might disappoint. Clearly I can’t give you any solid verdict, because I’ve only had a bit of time with a preview version, but I can say this: it’s astonishingly ugly by contemporary standards. And yes, perhaps we will overlook that ugliness if the game turns out to be a builder-masterpiece, but nothing I’ve seen of that building/mining aspect really sings. Combine what we’ve seen so far being a bit pedestrian with a void in the presentation department, and right now it’s looking unexceptional. (It’s not simply that the art is ultra-functional, and that there’s (currently, at least) no real shadows or other lighting.)

What I am saying is: I’d wait for the reviews.

Moreover there will be a DLC for ALE!!! WTF!!! >:(

DLC for ale? What's next? Different beard styles packed in a DLC?

I have a tendency to be suspicous about games that has a lot of DLCs and I'm turned off of this game already.

My biggest problem with A Game of Dwarves is that there's no industry.  You mine, you collect resources.  You buy items from the toolbar that use those resources, end of story.   I want gaint forges and mountains of minted gold bars.  But that isn't how this game is going to go. I'm still going to give it a shot, though.
