I face the 'too much ideas' problem. I just write them all down. Sometimes, the problem is having them float about in your head and you don't want to lose them. It gets rather distracting. Writing it down allows you to forget them, and come to them later. And quite often an idea isn't quite as well thought out as it seemed, and writing it down lets you explore the real core of the idea.

Having the equivalent of a dream journal is REALLY DURN USEFUL if your mind feels like it's overflowing and is struggling to concentrate.

I know, I've had that problem before. Write down everything of interest. Everything. The moment you wake up and you seeing a spider consuming a fly. Whatever.

Providing a vent for your ideas/emotions/whatever will help you feel better, and it'll make for an interesting stream of consciousness too.

I ended up doing alot of high degree of difficulty/planning pranking in highschool, I found it helped for me.  Also simple stuff like cooking that forces your mind into paying attention to what your are doing (trying to solve the worlds problems while cutting tomatoes = cut hand)

I used to be like this. I can't recommend programming enough. Not only is it a useful skill that provides challenging obstacles, once you get into it, it will change the way you look at the world. It shows you that no matter how large and insanely complicated a problem or phenomenon is, it is ultimately composed of simple, easily-understood statements.

My second piece of advice is just to chill out, if you can. When you start feeling frantic, go draw or write or play guitar. Do something constructive, but also something real- as in, physical and off the computer. Writing with real hands on real paper is much more relaxing than typing. Similar story for drawing.

If you can't chill, and you simply cannot deal with the problems no matter what you do, channel that energy into fixing them. There is doubtless a variety of charity programs in your area; call them up and ask what you can do to help. If they're hard to find, any local church will know where you can volunteer your time. Hell, your local church is a good place to start, so long as you don't mind that particular denomination.

Have you tried smoking marijuana?
Like you I sometimes feel somewhat disconnected from what's going on around me and my head is simply just overflowing with thoughts but I can't really single out one of them, like a fishstim where each induvidual is just a part of a great mass. Smoking gives me what could be described as an outlet for my mind and during an hour or so i'm comletly caught up in my own mind. During this time i'm also highly creative something that i'm usually not. The following weeks I feel much more connected to the world around me and life generally feels very simple. :)
But I might have interpreted your state of mind incorrectly. :P Afterall all of us don't work the same way I guess.

Id just say that as someone who used weed for this exact reason for years, be smart with the stuff.  It can be easy to smoke piles of the stuff if you dont keep yourself on a short leash
