A gremlin strike-team of infiltrated saboteurs would actually be scarier. You can slam the gates shut if they're waiting outside, but let 4-5 of them inside only for them to reveal themselves in 5 different control rooms simultaneously? Haulers getting crushed by garbage compactors, wells turning into geysers, obsidian farms flooding with magma...
