Paul, is there an option to start in a system alone? I've joined your system for now.

Options are to spawn in a spawn system (which puts 9 other newbies there), or pick a system (which might be empty).

Don't see any new colony numbers in Nomjga though, sure you're in my system?

-edit- I asked the devs. You get 100 mil to rebuild if you die, so if you get in a crummy system you can just suicide and restart elsewhere. You won't be in a "spawn" system, but if your spawn system is over crowded it might be better hehe. My system isnt a spawn system either.

Yeah my download has stalled at Retrieving Textures\nfac.pak...

I have the same problem, and putting Paul's file in the meshes folder didn't fix it (no doubt because it already had that particular nfac.pak file).

Got two folks in my system now. Yay, I'm not alone!

Theres still room for another person or two if anyone wants to join me in this system for the faction bonuses. You guys can set up your own factions in other systems too though, all you need is 1 guy to claim all the planets at the start and be king, and the other guys colonize after him and not take planetary control (have to have 75% control on a planet for it to transfer, so it's easy to avoid).

We should think about forming a guild, I believe it lets us transfer money free using the guild bank and probably has other benefits (I don't know much about it, I know for one thing you can have guild control on units for shared defense).

How intensive is the PvP in this game? It seems like a nice game, but I can't keep an eye on my empire/whatever 24/7, and I don't find it entertaining to log on one day and find all my cities completely decimated overnight.

On top of that, what interests me most of this game is less the combat and more the possible researching and trading of researched stuff. I don't suppose its possible to play a trading/researching oriented empire?

you can, infact some people have back in the day, just dont be combative, and become a valuable asset. its the diplomacy aspect, you prove yourself useful, and people will jump down the throats of those who threaten you. as of right now, we are asking for gentleman agreements during wars, no attacking homestar systems or homeworlds there are systems gamewise to prevent steamrolling and such, like i said, the community is a decent bunch (just dont let goonswarm find the game...)

Yea, my system is a bit crowded now. Several folks joined already. I think we have 7 now, and 7 is limit on planets, so any more and we'd have to start sharing planets instead of being able to colonize everything. Even with 7 we won't all be able to build big. You guys could select another system and start spawning in it if you wanted to make another little kingdom, hehe.

So I tried to self destruct out of the tutorial and now Im stuck at requesting universe data. Ive tried reinstalling everything but I still cant get any further. I can bring up the menu to try self destructing again but its still not working. Anyone have any ideas?
