I have fallen at the first hurdle. and this game looked  so funn! whenever i try to run dwarfort.exe, this message appears this application has failed to start becasue fmod.dll was not found.re-installing the application may fix this problem
ive deleted the zipped files once, then re downloaded them. can anyone help me out?

Forgive me if I'm way off the mark, but it sounds to me like you're trying to run the game from inside the zip file.  Are you using the built-in Windows "compressed folders" "feature" by any chance?

2. Unpack the files

thanks guys. i'm a total beginner with ddownloaded games, i usually get em outta the box and follow that. im not exactly hot with comps. so i unzip all the files, then play. thanks.
