And god damn biomes are fucking huge. When I first entered this server, I was bored, so I took the spawn map and went to map the ocean. Half of the map is ocean now, and there is a lot more of it.
If you used the map that was formerly in the spawn chest, you would have got to my little island in the bottom left. It's a great little place, but it might take a while for you to swim there cuz, yes, the biomes are fucking huge.

I've added a cobblestone generator in the basement of Bitterwell Keep. Just mine the cobble block and you'll be fine. I have it labeled. (I only died once while making it!)

Swim?  But you only need 5 planks for a boat ... why swim?  O_o

I might stop in and check out what you guys are building.  A buddy of mine and I just started a Tekkit server and it's rekindled our interest in Minecraft.  There's so much new stuff to build, and the Technic folks do the work of making sure the mods keep working nicely together, so there's no mod management headache.

just making sure you know:
there are no mods (at all) on this server.

I know, I've read most of this thread.  I'm more interested in exploring your creations than building stuff myself anyway.

If in the future, you guys feel like making a new world, you might want to consider using Tekkit if mod management headaches are your main reason for avoiding mods.

But if you're more than happy with vanilla Minecraft, then by all means, stick with vanilla.  :)

We like vanilla. (I do, at least.) On a side note, the boat house is going well, but I need one more redstone piece to finish a repeater for the circuit. Does anyone mind me borrowing one dust? Also, I don't think we have slimeballs, so does anyone know where slimes spawn on this map?

There are a few slime chunks near my house. As soon as I dig a bunch of cobble and finish my Nether tunnel, I'll see about clearing out a large spawning area and setting up a slime farm for whoever wants some.

It may be quicker and easier for someone closer to you to do it, though.

Could you whitelist my wife for me? I'm currently playing, but she's getting interested and we might just try to make a little place or our own :)

The name to whitelist is just Diana.

Thanks!

So, how does the new cobblestone generator work?

Bitterwell is a lovely place so far.  I think I need to clear out those near-surface caves though, or the zombie sounds will drive me batshit insane.

If anyone finds my first shack (hollowed out hill, really) in the hilly jungle area, they're free to claim it and its contents.  It'll have a sign inside, so you'll know which one it is.

So, how does the new cobblestone generator work?

It operates on a clock.  If the clock jams, just destroy the glowing redstone wire and replace it, then use the "reset" torch to send a new pulse to start it up again.  It may not be perfect, but it works better than the old design, due to 0% block loss.

I want to try an experimental subgame- a survival marathon. The way it works is, the participants start at the spawn point. They have no items in their inventories, aside from, perhaps, a bed.
An hour, a day, or a week later, the winner is the person who at that moment is at the highest x-axis coordinates.
In the meantime, there are no rules. Attacking and killing other players, leaving TNT traps, luring creepers and endermen, even building a nether gate, are all valid strategies.
Since every minute spent digging down and looking for diamonds, gathering obsidian, and then navigating the nether is time you aren't spending walking west...

Who's interested? We'll probably have an hour or two long race this weekend to test it out, depending on interest.
