By the way, is Clayspider whitelisted?
I know it is a while he haven't been on this forums for a while, but I am curious since he's my brother.

Yeah, he's still whitelisted.  Haven't seen either of you on for some time!

I'll at least be on more often now that I have moved permanently to Sweden, where internet is MUCH cheaper than in Greenland.
And my brother is going to somesort of schooling in Denmark for atleast a year, where internet is ALSO MUCH cheaper.

So we will be visiting Planehacked more often now.

Most excellent, I don't think I've seen Clayspider on since the old planehacked!

Cannot be much worse than in Denmark. Altough so far here in Bolnäs, the sky seems gray today.

were you ever actually able to see the aurora in greenland?

if so, you won't now. unless we have a solar storm.

Oh the Aurora is quite common some wintery nights on Greenland.
But common enough for me to take it for granted.

Fun fact:
According to Greenlandic myths and legends, the northern lights (as we call it in scandinavia) contains the souls of everyone who have died.
And whistling to the northern lights will make these souls come down, take your head and play ball games with it.
Some native Greenlanders are very supersticious, so they take this stuff as serious buisness.

This is a big thread, so can somebody give me a run-down on what's going on in the server? I get the feeling there are multiple settlements dotted around, but I don't know what they are, or where everybody is hiding out.

The spawn island has a bridge going a short distance to mainland. You can see mainland easily if your vision is set to Normal. Because of LARGE BIOMES the beach is really big and seems like a desert, but it's actually right next to a taiga.

If you go east from spawn bridge, you'll come through some scattered empty houses until you reach walled Bitterwell. Straight north from the spawn bridge is some guy's dwarven halls underground accessed by a tower with stairs leading up and then zigzagging down.

North of Bitterwell, or east of that dwarf hall, is my walled village and fort (uname technokinesis). My village is pretty much just decoration so if you wanna grab one and camp there go ahead ... but you might be happier off to the side where my diggings arent already under your house.

Continue past Bitterwell to the east and you'll come to some guy's big sattelite dish tower thing. Also a gravel road leaves Bitterwell going generally NE but I don't know where it goes.

Following the spawn beach west and north you'll come to Rhodan's tower to the sky, which is pretty cool lookin already.

The taiga continues north some distance until you hit a deciduous forest, then becomes plains and then jungle (edge of jungle is about 2500m or so north).

Far south across the ocean is an Extreme Hills biome which I traveled to a while back and dotted with torches and a couple little wayfarer houses.

After the next update it looks like we'll have zoomable maps, which means I will be willing to map out the area and upload to the thread with annotations. Anyone know a client mod that works with multiplayer that outputs a map to file automatically as I explore?

And somewhere in that ocean lies an island covered in pines, with a cabin in the middle and a farm growing out into the sea. There lies a man named Jetex1911, who hates all Mainlanders with gusto. If you're a Mainlander, he'll mostly insult you in a way, or be very cautious. Any threatening thing, such as taking out a sword or destroying one of his blocks, will warrant him reason enough to kill you. If you're a fellow Islander, he'll treat you like his own family, willing to help you out, even if he has to take things out of his very, very personal chest to give you something. He plans on someday taking up more islands, as well as someday setting up a train-system to link all islands together.

Thanks, Leo!

I've actually settled into the forest North of the Taiga. Got lucky and stumbled into (almost literally) a hole leading to a massive cave system extending almost to the bedrock, meaning I'm doing well economically. I've started building a cobblestone road across the taiga back to town.

I've seen some pretty neat creations so far. Not bad at all.

EDIT: Hmmm, server seems to have broken down for me upon my return. I fell through the Earth, then everything stopped loading, and then I inexplicably died and could not respawn. I hope I'm not going to end up losing my gear. :(

EDIT2: I did indeed lose all my gear, but I got a lot of the road done. It currently stops near the tower LNCP has built (though you need to keep an eye out to spot it). The bug where I dc and then respawn a million miles in the sky happened again, so I panicked and quickly dc'd, in the hopes that when I come back I won't lose all the stone I had just been collecting. >.<

I know this is just RP, but I'm going to take this opportunity regardless to remind people that murder is not okay. "I saw him mine some dirt" isn't a very good reason; you could have told the person just to stop instead.

WOO ISLANDERS UNITE
And somewhere, slightly to the west of Jetex is another, slightly bigger island. There lives Spaghetti7, who doesn't hold quite as much resentment for the mainlanders, but is just as keen for a railway to be built.
Out of interest, how much iron do you have, Jetex?

Me, on occasion, when I want to fiddle about with random stuff.  I still haven't seen doomblade on, to port him there.

I've not really even started mining. Just now I've made a trap door and plan on mining a hole until I won't be in danger of accidental drowning while mining.
