Everybody keeps talking about 1.3 - when IS that coming? I've been sorta not playing Minecraft so I don't loose anything myself so...

I heard tell of the region resembling August 1.  I cannot site a source on that, however...
I can.

This 1.3 update will include biome changes (which sound spiffy) and ore changes. I think this is how it works: if you update the server version to 1.3 and keep the old map, chunks that have already been loaded will never have emerald ore, but newly loaded chunks will. Since people have wandered a lot, we'd have to go some distance to find new chunks.

I'd like you to keep that in mind for regens, rather than just waiting some number of version updates or some amount of time. If this update hadn't included anything that mattered like that (for example, the cocoa growing on trees is not a big deal; some players will just start planting cocoa beans they find in dungeons and eventually all the old jungles will have them).

We could also give a week after the update for people to load up their pockets, move the origin spawn kilometers away, TP everyone to origin, and set everyone's spawn to origin. Downsides: doesn't let us keep our buildings, sounds like a buttload of work if you can't use the command on everyone, and won't let us have large biomes (and any other worldgen parameters).

Also, he says "valve time" which means it could be months or years later. Maybe sorting out the bugs on potions in creative mode will take decades of full-time coding.

Moving spawn is not a possibility.  As it is, spawn moved from its original point due to a minor corruption.

If we have until August, I don't feel that bad about playing anymore... I vote for the new map. We don't really even need a spawn building, and we could just build a small place in creative mode if needed. Also, I don't really need my inventory transferred- I don't mind mining.

Rest assured there is a plan and it will be enacted without fuss.

I finally bought Minecraft the other day.

My username is the same as my forum name 'kaenneth' if I can get whitelisted?

So far I've just built a little castle with a staircase on my own world.

(straight shot staircase from Bedrock to about 50-60 block above ground... only fell off it once during construction!)

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

Temporailly banned bigelo (Or however you spell it) because of suspicious attempts to use the console and failing to respond to chat messages. Let me know if you're interested in a pardon, B.

I learned how to swim after a few deaths; since the initial spawn point appears to be in the water.

If the Sphinx were to turn to the right, it could see at the maximum view distance the tower I'm building out of a mountain.

I also planted a couple small farms and a half-dozen saplings in the area.

I didn't see anyone else on.

Here's the plan for the next release:

We will provide a download link to the current map as it is now, and when the release comes out. We will start a new map when the release comes out, with distinct creative and survival regions several biomes apart.

Finally, starting from today to the release, the server will be set to creative by default!

Same here, though I'm not able to connect to another server either.
