Ice curiosity
« on: January 16, 2012, 04:13:40 pm »

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen;
       I have a fortress near a lake, and during the winter it freezes.  I occasionally I see blue spots flickering across the frozen lake surface(as if its raining or something).  I have checked announcements and reports and it is certainly not raining.  I catch the blue spots with my 'k' look key and it just says ice.  Any idea what this is?

Thank you ahead of time for your help

Those have always been insects of some kind in my exprience. Usualy showed up on k, even though it took me a few tries to catch them.

Probably just some butterfly vermin or something.

Insects, birds, vermin, lizards. Those little dots that wink in and out on random tiles are just small random creatures like that.

I don't think so, I have looked at them with the k key and there is nothing there but ice.  No birds, bugs, or vermin of any sort.  I have checked one z level up and down and I have checked the v also.  I wonder if it is the ice melting for an instant, but i don't know

It's like flow on water. The ice just changes colors and then back. Just a graphical thing.
