SO MUCH MONEY!
« on: January 16, 2012, 03:45:27 pm »

So by now in my early career of having killed 5 bandit leaders, i've come into far, far more wealth than anyone but an entire dwarf fortress should.  I've wearing around 14k of jewelry, holding about 15k of gems, and carrying another 44k in coin.  And this... has gotten heavy.

Where can I deposit this vast wealth without worry of it dissapearing or being stolen?

The upside of stashing Gold in a lair is future adventurers can come and get it too, Makes getting your starting gear a truckload easier.

As usual, the lair of a zombie crundle turns out to be the best bank.

There's something to be said about parallels to the real world's banking system with this post.

So stashing stuff in a lair keeps it safe?  I should try this.  I have an adventurer who's loaded down with two full stacks of coins, and it's taking up space in his pack, making inventory management a pain.  He's a dorf too, so the humans don't have a lot of gear that can fit him (he got geared up and rich by slaughtering a patrol of goblins).  It'll be good when adventurers need to eat and drink again, since that should eat up some cash.

Do throwing coins have a chance of decapitation? I'm curious about this...

Have you seen the thread about the guy killing a bronze colossus with a thrown fluffy wambler? I'd say yes.

Check this out:

I started a fresh Adventurer game.  I think I ran out of quests from the townspeople or something, so I genned a new world for adventuring.  I found a cave near the towns of a human civilization (within a day's travel of som towns and a fort), and explored it.  No enemies, but it lead down to the caverns.  So I switched to Dwarf Mode, dug it out a bit, sealed up the cavern, and gave him some furniture.  Engraved the walls, floored over the parts that were dirt, and even gave him a swimming pool.  Also made him some steel armor too.  It's a shame I can't retire him here, but it should make a nice hidden base for him to store his crap.
