On a less cynical note... Who here agrees there should be a way to level up that doesn't involve tanking your Wakfu into Stasis?
It is kind of interesting what you have to do just to balance out the Stasis you get from killing stuff to level. On the other hand, what's the point of Wakfu/Stasis? Also, what are the keys I've been getting good for?

Once you hit 30% Wakfu/Stasis, you get to go to a special themed island depending on which side of the scale you're on.
Also, your Gemlin changes color to match your alignment.

Dungeons I would imagine. In Dofus you had to have a key (every party member needed their own key) in order to enter a dungeon. So I'd be surprised if they didn't keep the same format in Wakfu.

This whole wipe thing has me really bummed out.

Someone tell them not to do it. ;_;

Well if it cheers you up any, you'll be able to build another character if you were unhappy with your current one. You'll also be re-rolling along with everyone else on the forums that will till be playing, and MMO are always better when played with others.

I like the concept in this game...but balance is horrible. Way too many skills and abilities are % based, making them worthless at lower levels. Weapons deal far more damage than skills, but the skills don't level up unless you use them instead of weapons. Healing and support is laughable. Enemy levels increase in huge increments, leaving many levels where there is no efficient place to hunt. Transportation seems to be non-existant. There are no tools for finding groups to play with.

I just don't see it being anywhere near ready for release next month.

I accidentally skipped a bunch of quests in the tutorial area due to not discovering the journal type menu until after going to the main world. Is there a way to fix this? And if not, are the rewards rare/powerful enough for it to be worthwhile to start over?

In fact, you pretty much have to go back, since one of the achievements requires you to fight a level 15 gobball. So unless you can get a big group of friends with you or spend a long time grinding...

Also, I've joined Amakna, just so you guys know.

Okay, updated everyone into the OP, even though I'm not really playing this anymore because I apparently cannot stay in the same place for two damn days. :P

If there's anything people want me to do in the guild, PM me (preferably) and I'll be happy to get on and do it for ya. Glad to see you're all enjoying it for the most part though!

Well Wakfu is officially a piece of crap. Ankama is really ruining the potential for the game by restricting F2P so harshly and forcing the release so early. (On top of leaving half-implemented ideas in the game)

For reference, you know astrub? That boring place you can blink and miss? Yeah that's the limit of the F2P section. And I doubt they'll do anything to make it remotely better any time soon (especially since, from what I understand, there really isn't much content after level 50 or 60)

I thought you meant the tutorial-island at first. Honestly, I was under the impression that Astrub was the whole world. Didn't know there was more..

Astrubs is the small island that you are on while you gather up the three feathers for the owls, after you get the feathers you pick a nation and then are whisked away to their island (with access to astrub still)

The tutorial island in the sky is Incarnum.

I used to play it several months ago and wasn't terribly impressed. The main problem with the game is that there is nothing really interesting to do there.

You can, for example, craft items - but the ones you can produce are usually terrible and unsuitable even for selling - even the newest player will quickly get a better drop from a random monster. To produce something even remotely useful, you must first spew hundreds of useless, crappy items which no sane individual will buy. It won't even get you any XP.

Then there is the whole thing with being a citizen which is... pretty unsatisfactory. Citizen Points are kinda worthless - you get, for example, 3 CPs for planting a tree when the area lacks some... and you lose 10 for attacking a fellow inhabitant. It stops the least persistent griefers, but a normal player doesn't have to ever worry about something being banned. There are elected governors (who appoint a government), but I have seen just one case when it was interesting. It involved a griefer governor who banned pretty much everything and set taxes to the highest possible amount - and has proven to be pretty resistant to the attempts of voting her out of the office. But that was in Bonta - in Amakna, where I used to play, it was just several candidates which would not even state what do they want to do after being elected. Maybe I'm somewhat unjust here - after all, I couldn't understand a half of them, because they have written their descriptions in Spanish.

There were also wars between communities where you could conquer some enemy terrain. Even that wasn't as interesting as it sounds, though. Soldiers usually fought, but they tended to have so high levels that attacking them was a suicide (and you could get for them CPs worth several trees). Besides, most of the interlopers didn't seem too interested in fucking shit up and minded their own business. I was somewhat surprised that they didn't do any raids to disrupt the enemy's ecosystem - as it provides bonuses, this seemed like a straightforward thing to do.

The best part of this MMORPG is that it has a lot of related creative work, particularly comics and a cartoon. The latter, particularly, is very high quality - great animation and surprisingly catching story. The first season has one of the best antagonists I ever saw in fantasy.

Yeah, that sums it up. Dofus was really harsh on F2P stuff too, I was hoping they'd lighten up on it a bit. Ohhhh well.
