Okay, whilst I find DrPoo's obsession with his namesake rather disturbing, and I would never want sex implemented in game, (well, not described at all; I mean, a lot of our players are rather young, imagine the problems
that could cause... D: '>Build menu >Brothel') the inclusion of defecation and urination would pose rather an interesting challenge, as many have explained before.
I imagine it would end up rather like my fortresses and water: There
is a well, but due to poor fort planning it's a decent trek from the fort's entrance, forcing any dwarf wishing to get a drink or bathe to walk the rather dangerous trail down the moutainside. Similarly, when trying to keep the problems of stinky sewage away from your lovely fort, it might be tempting to save time on building a sewer system and just designate a 'latrine' area a good distance away from your fort... But then, what happens when Urist McCheesemaker is busting to
take a dump sorry,
defecate as the whole place is in lockdown, under goblin attack? And what happens when a new recruit, plucked from the workforce and armed with only a -fungiwood training spear- is sent out to deal with a squad of lashers? Is that *dwarven butt biscuits* I smell, Kogan?!
But really, the possibilities are endless. It would be rather interesting having to incorporate sewage pipes and septic tanks into your fort's design, or perhaps simply drop-shafts reaching down to the magma far below. It could make potty-training a true edge-of-seat experience for little Urist!
On a more serious note, I think some of you are being rather overly-sensitive on the poo issue... Sure, it is rather gross, but I reckon dwarven dumplings would be rather less horrifying than certain things we have in game at the moment, like a soldier vomiting and retching violently on the ground, splattering his last meal down the front of his armour as he's beaten to death by goblins... If you think about it, that's the worse mental image.
This (Pooing and sewage, not dwarven orgies) would make a good addition to the game, in my opinion, although if others don't agree, there's always the RAWs. But as always, it's Toady's game, and I'm already so excited for the upcoming release that the lack of Dorfy Diahorrea won't really bother me!
...Yeah, it always did seem weird how we'll have sewers when nobody actually uses them, save as a hideout/lair.
