Also, fertiliser.
Everyone seems to bring this up as a top reason to include feces but the use of human feces as fertilizer isn't a great thing. It can cause a lot of unpleasant things to happen, not least of which is the spreading of disease and parasites and infecting produce with certain viruses. We already have a way to easily make fertilizer anyway.

I would submit that magma is the most dwarfy thing aside from booze. In fact I would think that feces would rate quite low on a Dwarf's enjoy-o-meter. Probably just above dying of lack of booze.

I always thought dwarves as people fond of toilet humor. Also i want to have a reason to lay pipes to every little room in my living complexes.
Poo could be flinged at enemies to make them squeamish and run away

If dwarves don't mind feces, why would goblins? Elves might not like it but elves are barbarian cannibals so they probably wouldn't care when they eat the dead anyway. Humans might dislike it. I guess.

In medieval towns, collecting and processing the town's dung was a profitable and desired venture, that was often leased to the highest bidder. Manure was in high demand on the countryside, as the farmers knew its value. The earliest written leasehold contracts often stipulated only three things: the required payment, the name of the peasant, and the explicit and absolute requirement that he should manure his plot, to safeguard "the fat of the land". When they say armies live off the fat of the land, they mean that said armies harvest without bothering to fertilize again or returning the straw and digested food back to the soil, thereby breaking the nutrient cycle and robbing the soil of valuable nutrients. This was true in every premodern farming society, save a few exceptional cases where nutrients were otherwise deposed (eg. Ancient Egypt with its Nile floodings).

I never said it didn't happen, I just said it was disgusting and unhygienic. Not sure what about my statement yours is opposing... or did you just think to provide an interesting fact?

It's only unhygienic if you don't know what you're doing. I'd say the production methods of a 21st century hamburger are much more disgusting and unhygienic than medieval farming practices. I don't see what is disgusting and unhygienic in my description.

The tanners would have to handle feces if we want leather production to be realistic.

I would say that this thread is going to definitely give you a very bizarre and ridiculous reputation, but that's probably obvious by now. Instead, I'm going to point out how saying how much you love human waste, and weird assertions that it's "dwarfy", etc., are completely unproductive statements to make and serve no purpose in this discussion except to make you look even weirder.

You could always make it toggleable, like temperature.

Im already reputed as "The Brown Docter"   Also we are discussing feces in a videogame, not each others reputation.

GS13 has it, and its widely used. I remember shitting up a corridor to have a security guy slip on it and drop his baton, as a traitor. Botanist use it as cheap replenishable fertiliser.

You enjoy stating obvious facts that have nothing at all to do with the conversation, don't you? Obviously I meant it would be disgusting and unhygenic for the dwarves, unless you honestly thought I expected you to act out everything which happens in DF? We're talking about creatures who are offended at the slightest smell of rotting plump helmet or roach carcass, and get an infection from a small cut simply because they don't quite understand hygiene. I doubt they would safely handle any kind of bodily waste without consequence.
