Rpg Maker
« on: January 15, 2012, 06:07:15 pm »

Hello, fellow denizens of Bay12. I found an interesting bit of software that allows you to make custom RPG's through the use of an intuitive easy-to-use system. There are two versions of the software, RPG Maker 'XP' and 'VX'. Feel free to share any games you've made through this program.

RPG Toolkit is the only RPG development software.  RPG Maker Version All of Them is bad.

I had one that was great. little did I find out that it wasn't a REAL RPGmaker but a heavily edited version. (It had all the features absent from the latest RPGmaker that it STILL DOESN'T HAVE!!! as well as better animation).

Still sort of wish I kept that version.

I couldn't get a hang of it, and I'm not paying $30 for software I'll probably never use.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

The problem with the current RPGmaker is that it is missing soo many features that honestly should be considered a staple of the RPG (For example... Character portrait and in battle sprites)

You actually have to go out and get those from other people who do a lot of programming. Which IMO is actually quite bad that you even need to.

Though unlike most of my complaints this one is because I honestly love RPGmakers but find their lack of progress to be sort of an indication of heavy stagnation. (though honestly if the PS2 RPGmaker didn't have a NPC limit... I would have totally bought it on the spot)
