Beat the game with a Class-B ship. I almost made it with the Vortex.

At least I've resisted the urge to bump it up to hard, and am still playing at normal, heh.

Ok, so my first run with the new update ran into an event where a rebel autoship in sector 7 disabled 3 shield system bars (as part of the event, not with gear), bringing me down to 1 shield layer.  Bear in mind that it was an autoship in sector 7, so it had 4 shield layers and a bunch of weapons.

WTF game?

Edit:  Trying out the new ship, going for the achievement where oxygen never goes above 14%.  Gain a second human crew member.

"Thanks for coming on board!  Stand in this one tiny room and NEVER LEAVE, or you'll literally die.  There's one other room you can stand in.  But we, ah, don't like to talk about that one.  Let's just say I'm a lot younger than I look and leave it at that."

I realized I had started my first game on Normal.

Now I'm correcting that and running on Hard. This should be interesting.

I finally got a chance to play, and noticed the mantis ship is unlocked!  I coulda sworn I lost the save where I had it.  I was going to check out the new race, but instead I'm swashbuckling my way across the stars.

... Sooo many robotic scout ships.  Level 2 teleporters help, but I'm just waiting for a missile to hit my boarders after they return...

Also, holy hell the Boss is more brutal now. Hacker kit to the medbay as the first action of the battle, locking in and killing two of my crew, unpreventable? Hilarious. T_T

Same game with the Krous (new ship), face a zolton pirate with ion blast, halberd beam, and anti-ship drone.  What follows is an absolutely brutal battle where half the ship's systems are damaged, the shields are both power drained and broken, and no one can repair them because everyone is either performing an essential function or needs to breath air.

We escape to the system jump beacon, crippled, at literally one health.

Ship in system: "We can offer emergency repairs to military vessels."

Me: What's your specialty?

"We can upgrade your oxygen systems."

Me:  "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh god"
