Man, the Stealth Cruiser is really vulnerable to bad luck in the first few sectors. Just got creamed by a Volton Bomber with a beam drone in my second fight. It took out my engines with the first shot, my weapons with the next, and my cloak with the third (after I got back from the first cloak). I eventually managed to do a little bit of damage to the ship, but I was pretty crippled the entire fight and never had both my helm and engine working at the same time so I couldn't even flee.

The best thing is when you're in the Volton Ship B and you meet a rebel rigger with a beam drone in the first sector... in asteroid field.

This has happened to me.  Twice.  And I've only played that ship like five times.

I'm terrible about keeping my boarding crews alive. I keep forgetting that systems getting destroyed counts as a point of hull damage, which cost me the last game when the Rebel Flagship jumped away with my poor dumb sons of bitches on board. The best "boarding party" I could muster for the second round was a single no-skill Engi :P

Aaaand just got the mantis cruiser. Kazaaak had a mantis scout with level 2 shields, and two mantises on board.

I owned him.

EDIT: I wish there was some sort of weapon-synchroniser. I hate having to manually tell my weapons to fire because they have different charging times.

Autofire?

A weapon synchronizer would be pretty sweet. Also @Sirus, doesn't destroying any system deal a point of damage?

Destroying a system with weapons fire doesn't do any more hull damage than the weapon would have cause otherwise; if a system is destroyed by fire or boarders, then each system destroyed (all the way to red) is 1 hull point of damage.

This, basically. I was trying to eliminate as much crew as possible, so I intended to wipe out the last weapon & crew before dealing the final blow. Problem was, destroying the weapon with the boarding party counted as the final blow.

Oh god, the Mantis B is amazing once you've gotten some stuff. I have a small bomb and a breacher bomb mk. II, so I can disable the enemy's medbay remotely before dumping four max-level mantis boarders into their ship. Nothing survives ever.

Next stop, the Rebel Flagship!

If you kill all the crew it repairs automatically in the next stage.

Honestly, the auto repair wasn't very scary when I fought it with auto repair.

So having a four Crystal boarding team on the Crystal B is fun.

Does anyone know exactly how many Crystals it take to keep a room on perma-Lockdown?

Except for the Crystal Cruiser because that is a bitch to unlock.
