Didn't see it before, checked now.  I figured out the first two parts pretty easily, but not sure how I'm supposed to kill anything without upgrading my weapons a lot.  That's what I'm trying on this current playthrough anyway.

Oh, FUCK you random-number-generator!

Zolton ship B. Engi homeworlds. I find the start of the stealth cruiser quest, but can't start it because I don't have an Engi on board.

VERY NEXT JUMP: Engi joins my crew for free. I feel like punching something.

EDIT: And now I am dead. Plasma storm nebula against a zolton ship with two shields, several weapons, and TWO(!) anti-ship drones - one burst laser, one beam. All at once.
I feel a need to take a break from this game  :-\

Hah, that's some bad luck! I always try to have the requisites for all the different ships, just in case. Only the Slug-ship left...
With the Zoltan ship in a nebula storm, disable your shields (you don't need it yet as long as the zoltan shield is active) and full power on weapons and engines. I don't know which weapons you had, but you might've been able to disable either the drone control or weapon control. That usually works for me :)

First time I won was with the Kestrel A, was a difficult and long battle. Managed to kill the guy in the triple rocket launcher and then damage it to destruction, after that with sufficient shields and engine its just a matter of whittling it down to death. Found much more success with the Osprey considering the nice mix of crew and the artillery.

that annoying moment when you are doing well, but the enemy ship has 3 shields and a high enough evasion to render your attacks useless, as well as having 2 of those 3 damage rocket launchers, and you can't board because they have enough crew to cycle between attacking you and healing. die

Wee, first win for me. I managed to find my winning strategy, get another burst II  laser. Yeah thats about it, once I get a second then the problems I end up having later on stop being problems quickly. Oh and I managed it on normal mode without ever doing easy mode so that makes me happy.

I should mention that against the final boss, unless your using a stealth based ship, you shouldn't use more than one (maybe 2) level(s) of stealth for the final two forms.

I'm almost positive now that stealth does not slow down his "fuck stuff up" timer, so you want to be able to reuse it again as soon as possible, which means ending it as soon as possible

Honestly I think its best feature is not the stealth itself but the evade chance it gives during stealth. Missiles are about the only thing that on its own could really do anything to my ship at the end there and having what basically was a dodge option for combat made anything dealing with missiles a lot easier.

So I got the hippie Zoltan event, and I don't know which option to tell to the rebel ship.

I think it's hail, reconciliation (1), and True progress (2).

Thank you. I've gotten that event ten times by now, and fucked up every time.

...There's only five total options. How in the world do you screw that event up ten times?
