Ugh, is the stealth cruiser SUPPOSED to be difficult to get?
My poor Slug Cruiser was horribly destroyed by about fifty thousand missiles without doing much hull damage.

I'll just leave this here....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That might be awesome if only you could teleport units onto your own ship to repair those engines.

If you hit your cloak whenever you get the 'POWER SURGE DETECTED' message, the last boss is alot easier.
Would've done so if my cloak hadn't been out of sync. I managed to cloak it out 80% of the time, but the rockets and AP drones in between the cloaks basically killed me. Especially when a rocket lit my weapon room on fire. Shit really hit the fan from that point, so much so that i eventually just deactivated my shield because survival was impossible. (began losing crew to various things)
I would have gone for a defense drone as well, but i never managed to acquire a drone compartment. Buying the shield was expensive enough, likewise was buffing it up to 4 points (which is ridiculously good when your crew is experienced). And on top of that, i had maxed my reactor out on weapons and engine (the engine could probably be cut down a bit), and i never had enough scrap for a drone compartment when it was available to me.

NEXT TIME, THOUGH!

I don't think I've ever bothered to get more than 2 shield with the stealth ship. o_o

Defense drones are so much more useful, much, much, MUCH higher priority. Max dodge is effectively doubling your shield power (actually a bit more), except that it works versus bombs and missiles as well.

The first thing I normally do in the boss fight is teleport an assault team into the weapon room for the multi-missile launcher.

my best loadout so far:
2 mantis early on => so much of bording for scrap and a high score 50 kill mantis
4 Zoltan to max out power
2 engi to repaire/conduct
then
4 level shield (one of them zoltan-powered so no ion against)
7/6 engine (if i did or not had energy)
3 level medic and teleporter
8 level wepon (with two ion buster and pike beam i think not sure)
8 level drone to help attack and deffense (both level 2)
most of the playtrougth i just borded => more scrap

I never bothered getting a teleporter for my stealth ship run. Honestly, it wouldn't have been a great idea anyways - a breach missile works just well (or an ion bomb) at keeping it offline until he dies.

All sending crew over would have done was get them killed. :P

You are doing something wrong if they get killed when you send em over...

They didn't get killed, because I didn't send them over. But I'm pretty the ship would have blown up/departed before I could have brought them back, unless I was specifically holding back to protect them, and that seems dumb.

Well, my problem was that i never got more than the equivalent of 4 laser shots, which is JUST ENOUGH to lower its shields for a Halberd blast (which worked wonderfully on all the enemies that didn't fill me with drones). Never got any rocket launchers, else i'd have spammed the everloving shit out of them. Breach missiles in particular are an old love of mine, because 4 FUCKING DAMAGE. Slow rate of fire, sure, but 4 damage right in the face ain't nothing you can just ignore. But a Halberd blast can do 8 damage if targeted right, possibly more. If only i had both and a super mega burst laser............

Halberd beam is strictly inferior to glave!

5xlaser burst is okay...

But I much prefer an ion bomb, which takes down just as much shield for 1 power.

Would've loved both of them, but this time around the RNG didn't give me anything super good other than tons of scrap. :P
Also, just tried Engi ship on Normal. Lost half my hull after two jumps, and had the rebel fleet alerted to my position.

NOT GOOD
