Stayed up, beat the game one easy, on my 6th or 7th game.
Did it with the Egni ship,
during the fight, I'd have to disable my oxygen and medbay and power down my engines to half power to be able to power all my weapons. lol,
but was able to beat the boss very easily, no deaths, no systems or subsystems destoryed, etc.

I had the chance to get the zolton ship, but picked the wrong choice,

also, I dreamed that I was playing this game last night,
shit was crazy.

I've found that my favorite thing is the weapon pre-igniter. It really makes a huge difference when you can blast out your enemies weapons before they can do anything.

Speaking of which, any ideas on how to get the related achievement, i.e. blow up the enemy with your first volley before they get a shot off? I've been trying to figure out how such a thing might even be possible, and I've got nuthin'.
A pre igniter would be almost required to get a shot off first.

Your best  bet is probably a combo of hull missiles and burst laser 2's.

A full load of 4 hull missiles maxes out at a theoretical 16 damage per salvo (if you hit an empty room with every missile), and 4 bl2's max out at 12 damage and that is enough to take out a lightly shielded rebel drone. Under normal circumstances you would use a combo of the two so you don't go through missiles to quickly and you are unlikely to find 4  of the same weapon in a given game anyway.

Doesn't it just require you to destroy them before they get off a shot? That's... not hard. Just use an ion bomb or smart bomb or something on their weapon. Combine with cloaking to make it even easier. The stealth ship B is BUILT around killing the enemy before they get a shot off, preferably in one volley.

yea, I have not read that achievement, so if it merely means killing the enemy before they get off a shot? then all you really have to do is lay the smack down on their weapon system before they get a shot. That would be easy with either a pre igniter or cloak

You can also get a blue option for the spiders event if you have the anti-bio beam.

No, I did that and didn't get the achievement. Took out their weapons with my initial pre-ignited shot and never allowed them to bring them up to working order again. Apparently it has to be one volley.

Do you have/can you try stealth ship B? It's really the best around for that sort of work.

Alternately, cloak maxxed out plus MISSILE SPAM WOOH and maybe a beam on the end. :P

Why does everybody treat spoilers so lightly?

Is this game a roguelike? Roguelikes tend to be based entirely around spoilers.
Yes, it is in many ways a roguelike. A game made fun mostly by the spoilers shouldn't be casually spoiled.

Assuming we /aren't/ fighting an oxygenless roboship, those cheaters. I believe the max power is 20, right?
Max power is 25, I believe. Because otherwise the 29 power Zoltran Ship achievement is impossible.

That's probably the most solid layout possible. I'm thinking the best way to beat it (if you knew it was coming) would be Zoltran with Halberds and Ion Bombs, cloaking immediately when the battle starts.

Yeah, a strike ship would really be the biggest weakness. Take me down before I can take you down and all.

Of course, with 5 extra points of energy, I could max out my own cloak and make that second drone an MKII.

Not that that would help against bombs, actually... hmmm. Well, if we both had max cloak, My bombs and missiles would probably hit you at the same time yours hits me - so if you don't take my ship immediately (and you very well could), I might have a chance - If I can get my guys on your ship, even if you end up destroying mine I might be able to pull off MAD, heh.

Oh, and:
I think it would be really awesome if, when your ship gets destroyed, you can kill everyone on the enemy ship and take that instead. So awesome, I think.

There is literally nothing in this game we could have fun talking about that doesn't involve spoilers. Think of it more as shared discovery!

Well, that's how I've been looking at it.

Also, anyone got any tips on how to get more scrap? Or, preferably to grind harder?
For once this is actually a game I like to wander around questing in. And yet I'm limited to how much I can do by my fuel and the advancing rebels.
Oooh, if there wasn't an advancing fleet I'd become so strong. Sooo strong.

I believe there is a way to turn off the advancing fleet in the ini file

I've become willing to go through a couple batches of rebel controlled territory if it lets me get some more scrap before heading on.
