Aim at the console to prevent that stuff from happening. Your shots should hit 100% after it goes down.

Of course, that's only have the problem with the other being the RNG hates you, but nothing can solve the RNG hating you.

Has there been any word yet on the modding front? I'd love to be able to add additional sprites for the various species, so we don't have two types of human and one type of everything else. It'd add more (purely cosmetic) variety.

I finally beat the Rebel Flagship. I was severely disappointed by the final form, since it basically killed itself- I only had to execute the corpse. Stealth-cruisers are really cool when you finally fins shields for them

I just beat the boss for the first time with the engi brickship. 2 ion cannons + hull asploding laser and two drones combined with awesome shields, engines and full reactor power were enough. Managed to unlock the 2nd layout, but no new ships :C

Argh, I managed to get the crystal crew member, but I didn't make it past the Rock Homeworlds...

I mean, jesus christ, every other star in that system and the one before either had an asteroid field or a supernova. And all the Rockmen ships were packing missile launchers. It was insane!

For anyone that wants more exploration, theres a mod on the wiki that turns off the rebel fleet movement.

I'm using the mod to unlock ships. I just need the crystal ship and then it's back to the grindstone of seeing how each ship functions.

The helm will function if a crew member is in there and in combat or repairing, however it won't give the crew member's evade bonus.

Now thats bull. I had my Pilot under attack and the jump command disabled with a fully working helm...

The AI doesn't follow the same rules as us, I've noticed. They've accomplished a few things I couldn't. Like hitting multiple ship parts with the hits from a single burst laser.
