how do you play with the cloaky ship? it seems you can dodge attaks by timing the stealth, but then the cooldown and no shield means you always get some hull damage here and there

You just need to have enough firepower that you can disable their weapon systems after your first decloak.

Have fun doing things other than playing FTL.  I'm sure they exist.

Gods yes.  SC's arcade ship combat was great in its way, but it's fun to imagine it replaced with FTL's combat.

I was up laaate last night agonizing over the final boss (my second time reaching it, the first time ended *real fast*).  Mistakes were made, but I like to think I brought it down with me.  I think I can win next time, which is very important for a game like this.

(As a Marathon fanboy, I like to pretend I'm a sardonic ship-AI.  Originally designed to operate doors, and using them to good effect on foolish insects boarders.  I cherish my greatest weapons crew members.)
Heh, the final boss is a pain yeah.

The ship I used to beat it was:

Game is wonderful, but it is persistent on stretching my resolution after I quit the game. That or it looks horribly squashed in game until I auto-adjust my screen.

You guys have any other ideas how I can make the game look neat without having to adjust to tiny letters/icons of new resolution?

I just beat the game with only flame weapons hahaha, oh god it was hilarious.

Quick tip, if you guys ever come across a flame bomb, keep it. It's redonkulous!

Nearly beat the game with 3 MK II burst lasers...
A volley fire of 9 laser turns out to be super effective... ONLY WHEN YOU CAN ACTUALLY HIT THE TARGET.

Got brutally murdered by the boss.
I will now proceed to go cry myself to sleep in the corner.
